Diwali Bonus

In India,
initially there was a concept of weekly salary.
52 weeks. 52 salaries in a year.

But the British came up with the concept of monthly salary.

To maintain the 52 weeks pay, considering 4 weeks in a month - 13 salaries should have been distributed but they were giving out just 12. Instead of 52, people were being paid equivalent to just 48 weeks.

When people realized that this change was a loss to them, many protest rallies were organised in Maharashtra.

The British then came up with a solution to this problem.

After discussion with leaders about how to distribute this 13th salary,
they decided Diwali being the biggest festival of India,
they would distribute this 13th salary during Diwali.

This is the story of the Diwali Bonus.

The bonus was highly anticipated by everyone...

एक बार भगवान दुविधा में पड़ गए! कि कोई भी मनुष्य जब मुसीबत में पड़ता है, तब मेरे पास भागा-भागा आता है और मुझे सिर्फ अपनी परेशानियां बताने लगता है,मेरे पास आकर कभी भी अपने सुख या अपनी संतुष्टि की बात नहीं करता मेरे से कुछ न कुछ मांगने लगता है!

अंतत: भगवान ने इस समस्या के निराकरण के लिए देवताओं की बैठक बुलाई और बोले- कि हे देवो, मैं मनुष्य की रचना करके कष्ट में पड़ गया हूं। कोई न कोई मनुष्य हर समय शिकायत ही करता रहता हैं, जबकी मै उन्हे उसके कर्मानुसार सब कुछ दे रहा हूँ। फिर भी थोड़े से कष्ट मे ही मेरे पास आ जाता हैं। जिससे न तो मैं कहीं शांति पूर्वक रह सकता हूं, न ही शास्वत स्वरूप में रह कर साधना कर सकता हूं। आप लोग मुझे कृपया ऐसा स्थान बताएं, जहां मनुष्य नाम का प्राणी कदापि न पहुंच सके।

प्रभु के विचारों का आदर करते हुए देवताओं ने अपने-अपने विचार प्रकट करने शुरू किए। गणेश जी बोले- आप हिमालय पर्वत की चोटी पर चले जाएं। भगवान ने कहा- यह स्थान तो मनुष्य की पहुंच में हैं। उसे वहां पहुंचने में अधिक समय नहीं लगेगा। इंद्रदेव ने सलाह दी- कि आप किसी महासागर में चले जाएं। वरुण देव बोले- आप अंतरिक्ष में चले जाइए।

भगवान ने कहा- एक दिन मनुष्य वहां भी अवश्य पहुंच जाएगा। भगवान निराश होने लगे थे। वह मन ही मन सोचने लगे- “क्या मेरे लिए कोई भी ऐसा गुप्त स्थान नहीं हैं, जहां मैं शांतिपूर्वक रह सकूं"।

अंत में सूर्य देव बोले- प्रभु! आप ऐसा करें कि मनुष्य के हृदय में बैठ जाएं! मनुष्य अनेक स्थान पर आपको ढूंढने में सदा उलझा रहेगा, क्योंकि मनुष्य बाहर की प्रकृति की तरफ को देखता है दूसरों की तरफ को देखता है खुद के हृदय के अंदर कभी झांक कर नहीं देखता इसलिए वह यहाँ आपको कदापि तलाश नहीं करेगा।

करोड़ों में कोई एक जो आपको अपने ह्रदय में तलाश करेगा वह आपसे शिकायत करने लायक नहीं रहेगा क्योंकि उसकी बाहरी इच्छा शक्ति खत्म हो चुकी होगी ईश्वर को सूर्य देव की बात पसंद आ गई। उन्होंने ऐसा ही किया और भगवान हमेशा के लिए मनुष्य के हृदय में जाकर बैठ गए।

उस दिन से मनुष्य अपना दुख व्यक्त करने के लिए ईश्वर को मन्दिर, पर्वत पहाड़ कंदरा गुफा ऊपर, नीचे, आकाश, पाताल में ढूंढ रहा है पर वह मिल नहीं रहें हैं।
परंतु मनुष्य कभी भी अपने भीतर ईश्वर को ढूंढने की कोशिश नहीं करता है
इसलिए मनुष्य "हृदय रूपी मन्दिर" में बैठे हुए ईश्वर को नहीं देख पाता और ईश्वर को पाने के चक्कर में दर-दर घूमता है पर अपने ह्रदय के दरवाजे को खोल कर नहीं देख पाता..!!
