هاي معلومات عن MgSO4 في حال سالوا عليه:
1/ it increases blood flow through uterine and fetal umbilical and cerebral arteries >> relaxation of the uterus by competing with intracellular calcium >> *fetal neuroprotection* against cerebral Palsy or other brain damage
2/ It enhances *lung maturation* >> reduces the incidence of RDS in preterm infants exposed to ACS and MgSO4
3/ Prolonged exposure leads to uterine atony; it had been attributed with increased risk of *PPH*
>> dose should be balanced between benefits and risk
4/ it's not an independent risk factor >> it increases the risk of uterine atony in the presence of other risk factors
5/*contraindications* for its use: DM coma, hypersensitivity reaction to the drug, heart block or myocardial damage, mysthenia gravis (precipitate mysthenia crisis), not used with medications from tetracycline family (demeclocycline, doxycycline, etc), in cases of hypercalcemia and hypermagnesemia >> *monitor* blood levels while patient is taking MgSO4.
