7. What is Ryde’s CPF contribution?
💰 2025: Ryde contributes 3.5% of NE .

8. What if I don’t opt in for CPF?

🚫 Ryde does not contribute to CPF accounts.

9. What happens if I earn less than $500 in a month?
🛑 If Net Earnings (NE) < $500, no CPF or MediSave deductions will be made.

10. How will CPF contributions increase over the next 5 years?
📈 2025 Rates (Aged 35 and Below):
Driver: 10.5% of NE
Ryde: 3.5% of NE
📈 2029 Full Rates:
Driver: Up to 20% of NE (age-based)

CPF contributions build savings for housing, healthcare, and retirement. Here's what you need to know:

1. How is Net Earnings (NE) calculated?
🧮 Formula:
NE = Gross Earnings × (100% - FEDA Rate)
🚗 Cars: 60% | 🛵 Motorcycles: 35% | 🚲 Bicycles/Walking: 20%

2. Is CPF contribution mandatory?
✅ 2025:
-Mandatory for workers born on/after 1 Jan 1995.
-MediSave is mandatory if NE > $500.

3. How is MediSave calculated (age 47, not opted in)?
🏥 Based on NE:
NE ≤ $500: No contribution.
$500 < NE ≤ $750: 0.3 × (NE - $500).
Example: NE = $600 → $30 MediSave.
NE > $750: 10% × NE.
Example: NE = $1,600 → $160 MediSave.

4. What happens if I opt in?
✅ Both you and Ryde contribute:
You: 10.5% of NE (2025).
Ryde: 3.5% of NE (2025).

❓ Why is there a one-way deduction for drivers and no contribution from Ryde?

Scenario 1: Not Opted In for CPF Contributions
✅ Mandatory MediSave Contributions Only:
- By law, MediSave deductions are required if Net Earnings (NE) exceed $500/month.
- These go into your MediSave Account (MA) to cover healthcare needs like hospitalization and MediShield Life premiums.
❌ No CPF Contributions from Ryde:
- Platform operators are not required to contribute for drivers who do not opt in.

Scenario 2: Opted In for Full CPF Contributions
✅ Ryde Contributes 3.5% to CPF:
On top of your contributions, Ryde supports your:
🏠 Housing via the Ordinary Account (OA).
🌟 Retirement via the Special Account (SA).
🏥 Healthcare via the MediSave Account (MA).
✅ Driver’s Contributions:
Your CPF contributions are split across OA, SA, and MA based on your age bracket.

🚗 What is FEDA?
FEDA deducts a fixed percentage from your gross earnings to estimate Net Earnings (NE) for CPF contributions and taxes. Deduction rates:
🚗 Cars/Vans: 60%
🛵 Motorcycles/PMDs: 35%
🚲 Bicycles/Public Transport: 20%

🧮 Example Calculation
Monthly gross earnings: $4,000
- FEDA Deduction (60%): $4,000 × 60% = $2,400
- Net Earnings (40%): $4,000 × 40% = $1,600
CPF contributions are calculated based on NE.

❓ Why 60%?
Set by CPF Board, MOM, and IRAS, it reflects average costs like:
🚘 Fuel
🔧 Maintenance
🚗 Depreciation
🛡️ Insurance
🅿️ ERP fees.
This simplifies calculations and ensures fairness.
