- Stock Drop: Asian Paints’ shares fall by up to 9.3% today, marking its worst single-day drop since March 2020. It ended at the bottom of the Nifty 50 index as Q2 earnings missed estimates.

- Profit Miss: Profit for the three months ending Sept. 30 nearly halved to β‚Ή695 crore, significantly below analysts’ forecast of β‚Ή1,019 crore. Net sales also fell 5% to β‚Ή8,028 crore, missing the projected β‚Ή8,506 crore.

- Volume Decline: Sales volumes dropped by 0.5%, trailing behind Berger Paints’ 3.6% growth and Kansai Nerolac’s 4% rise. Market competition, especially from new entrant Grasim Industries, is intensifying.

- Demand Challenges: Inflation has reduced demand for premium products, pushing Asian Paints to lower prices to regain market share, but flooding in parts of India further impacted volumes.
