The CryptoQuant team analyzed leverage levels on crypto exchanges to assess their liquidity, default risks, and the backing of futures trading by reserves.
The main tool for the analysis was the Leverage Ratio — the ratio of open interest to the total reserves of an exchange. High values may indicate potential liquidity issues.
Binance stands out among other exchanges:
Reserves in BTC, ETH, and USDT confidently cover the open interest.
The Leverage Ratio remained the lowest among major exchanges: 12.8 in December 2023 and 13.5 in December 2024.
Despite a 2.6x increase in BTC open interest (from $4.45 billion to $11.64 billion), Binance has maintained stability, showing resilience to volatility and liquidations.
OKX also maintains a low leverage level.
Meanwhile, Gate, Bybit, and Deribit have high Leverage Ratios — 106, 86, and 32, respectively. These exchanges have open interest levels that approach or exceed their reserves, increasing the risk of insufficient liquidity.
The collapse of FTX in 2024 highlights the dangers of inadequate reserves: the exchange’s reserves dropped to zero, while open interest remained high.

2. Scenario 2 – This was merely a strong correction, and the market will recover quickly before continuing its growth.
What supports the second scenario is that it occurred on the 840th day of accumulation, and currently, for many coins, accumulation has also been around 900–950 days. Meanwhile, Scenario 1 occurred on the 450th day, after which a long accumulation period was still needed.

A choppy market, consolidation — that’s hard mode.
🔹Right now, the market is on the edge between easy mode and hard mode. This is the most interesting time to work. When we hit the easy mode, it becomes difficult to get in psychologically. “It was x% cheaper yesterday, I’ll wait for a pullback,” you think. But then, before you know it, the easy mode is over.
🔹So, it’s crucial to stay focused now. Be ready for the easy mode and the breakout from consolidation. The biggest profits are close, just like they were in January, February, and March. Those who entered in October reaped the rewards. It was hard to ape into anything without profit when everything around had already pumped, even giving multiples.
