Here's part 2.... the ATF director manages to avoid answering direct questions and runs out the clock on Jim Jordan's time to question him.

We are supposed to respect law and order. "The consent of the governed". But what about when the government doesn't even play by it's own rules? What when the government won't hold itself accountable?

In this case the ATF changed the requirement to be an FFL holder from "primary line of business" to "sells for profit". Then they executed a search warrant (not an arrest warrant). They made two attempts. The first was cancelled when they realized the home owner wasn't at home... but it's a search warrant. The second attempt was at 6am. They covered his Ring camera with tape, they did not have their required body cams on, killed the power to the house and shot the homeowner in the head 57seconds into the "search warrant". The ATF director dodges questions by saying it's still under investigation and "this is very dangerous work".... if it's so dangerous, why didn't they execute their search warrant when no one was home?

This guy used 1280lbs of concrete, he should have used twice as much. If you do a project like this, the rule of thumb is 14-15lbs of concrete per square foot of panels. 60kg per square meter.

Just looked at my consumption / export for the month. My bill resets on the 16th. I'm 400kwh in the negative. And daughter used nearly 800kwh in her car..... so without her my month would have been a net positive. Daughters: We love them but they are expensive.

These poor people. They got sold a bill of goods. I'm going to bet their system isn't working so they still have a high electric bill and also a solar panel payment. This is what happens when people buy things they don't understand. Get educated. If the door to doo salesman only talks in dollars and not kWh, send them packing.

How many people do we know who plan to live out retirement with the husband or wife and one of them dies? You just blew the time you had with the person your love. Or spending your child's formative years with them in daycare or at a public indoctrination school?

Three ways to use a generator to back feed your house....
1) get a 200 amp transfer switch (but in practical terms, a 100amp is probably what you need)
2) install a generator inlet breaker on the top left or top right of your main panel box and get a "generator interlock device" to prevent you from turning on the main 200amp breaker at the same time as the gen inlet
3)Decide ahead of time which loads will be essential and move them to a downstream "critical loads panel and wire that up via a smaller transfer switch.

When you get serious about discussing which loads are critical and which won't run on a generator, you soon realize that you have more parts of the house you'd like to run that you thought. For example.. you think critical loads are the freezer, fridge and well pump. But you soon realize that having a light in a bathroom is nice and the kids want to charge their cell phones. Before you know it you realize that you are actually better off back feeding your main panel like #2 above and switching off large loads like clothes dryer and water heater.

So my preference is to back feed into the top left or right of your main panel and mark all the breakers that should be ON with generator with a dot or star. When you get ready to fire up the generator, turn off all breakers not marked with a star.

Also, be aware that it's really hard on a generator to shut down under a load and this includes when it runs out of fuel. As it spools down, the voltage regulator tries harder and harder to make 120/240 and ends up burning up stuff in the generator. So kill the breaker at the generator when shutting it down.... and don't let it run out of fuel!

Here is one source for interlocks and also lots of them on amazon. https://interlockkit.com/

Half vs full cell panels. All to do with how shading affects a panel. Does shading one wafer kill and entire panel or a fraction of the panel’s output.

Borrowed a solar power meter from another off gridder today. Connected to a few of my 275w 8 year old panels and got 230-240w. Washed off one of the panels and got a lot of just black dirt on a rag. Power went to 248w. This means that my 40 panels on the barn don’t make 11kw, they will make 9.9kw. But it’s ok because I’m pairing them with a 6kw inverter anyway.

Checked against some other panels I had laying around. 330w panel made 320. 370w panel made 360.

Also cool to see… the older panels are full wafer and blocking one wafer kills the panel by half. On the newer half cell panels blocking one wafer knocks production down 1/3. Much better for partial shade applications.

Just my thought for the day.... I have a friend from Germany's son visiting this week and took him to the air force museum in Dayton Ohio. It should have been a very patriotic thing... rah rah rah 'Mericuh! In the past couple of years I've been able to educate myself about things like "all wars are banker wars" and the real causes of ww2. Lets just say it contradicts what I was taught in high school history. Regardless of which side we should have fought on in ww2, we can say that it was at least a fair fight. A bunch of countries with similar technical prowess fought each other.

That said, as I moved through the museum to the Korea/Vietnam building, I became quite upset. The asian people we waged war on were primitive. It was extremely lop sided. But never fear, MacNamara made sure the rules of engagement meant we could never win. The government just kept sending checks to Lockheed and fighting age men to the meat grinder. The US lost 58,220 men... but how many Vietnamese were killed? And for WHAT? to save them from communism? Hell that might have been a step up for them. I've got to do some digging to find out what role the banks played in the outcome of both wars.... South Korea certainly got a booming economy, but did they get a central bank to go along with it? I gotta research.

Afghanistan was another lop sided fight. and Iraq. My takeaway from Vietnam, AF and Iraq is that it's one thing to occupy a country and march your tanks to the capital. It is quite another to hold that country. Desperate people resort to guerrilla warfare. Rules of Engagement and the Geneva Convention are for the remote controllers of a war. When you are fighting for your family, survival and freedom, the gloves are off. Here in the USA we have more guns that people. If it should come to blows, take inspiration from the underdogs that were able to antagonize a technically superior force into retreat. It will not come without loss of life however.

I ordered a new SMA sunny boy inverter for my barn last week and connected it to 13 275w panels today. It made power from the barn. So with that, we decided to remove the last of the panels from the house roof. Tomorrow I’ll finish installing 275w panels on the barn.

Last week I put a transfer switch in the basement that will allow me to select if the barn system is direct export to the grid or in winter or extremely cloudy days I can move that barn inverter to the house system.

Just some thoughts.... Spoke to my wife this morning about "voter issues". Saw a chart the other day that showed the most important issue to young women is the right to kill their babies (couched in euphemisms of course.). Jennifer Annistan just said she voted for "reproductive freedom". The first thing my wife keyed on this was that JA doesn't even have children. Society has gone so far toward perversion and sin that they tell us Christianity is the thing that's extreme. Guess it depends where you are sitting eh? Me thinks the "far right" isn't as far from center as those of the far far left would have us believe.

One thing is for sure.... a pendulum is gunna swing just as far one direction as the other. It sure seems as if the left is actually pulling the pendulum their way... cocking it even. 10 years ago my wife read the handmaids tale and was horrified at the thought of a theocracy like that. About 3 years ago she said to me that "we deserve it". This morning we were discussing how the number one issue of young girls is killing their babies.... that young men are rejecting 304 culture and want kids... how abortion clinics should require the consent of the men (ie its either rape and they get a morning after pill at a hospital or it was consensual and the man should have rights to baby - her words). Indeed many young men are waking up and realizing the parallels between the debauchery in Germany in the late 1920s juxtaposed against the law & order and morality of the German people after 1933.

One thing is for sure.... the pendulum has already begun to swing away from the debauchery. The question at this point is how far will it swing the other way.

Again, just me thinking.... tying all this into the upcoming US election. If Kamala wins, it will be the result of a cheat. Even if she legit wins the election process has been sullied and carries no legitimacy. If she wins, things could go as far as several states seceding, there could be a lot of shooting. Or the country could just fail with a whimper. I tend to think that people on the right are more likely to focus on their family and their communities than storm the capital. If Trump wins, we get a shot of adrenaline in the arm that lasts about two years.... then the economy collapses because more and more nations go to BRICS and the US's chickens come home to roost.

Either way, through violence or passively, the economy and society will collapse. The cities will be a killing field for the criminally violent. Probably 2/3 or 80% of the country will succumb to violent deaths or simple starvation. You know who's gunna make it? Those who can work together cooperatively! I hate to say it but it is such an over the top example.... look at africa. Land mass the size of 5 other continents, natural resources beyond belief.... yet the people can't work together and often are in famine. There has been no technical or scientific progress there because the people prevent each other from getting ahead. People with those inbred tendencies will not flourish in the US or EU without government aid... and that's about to cease.

Just my rano thoughts. Carry on.
