Swindon & Wilts Residents Association: Questioning The Council About Potential ULEZ Plans (25/07/24)
Members of the Swindon & Wiltshire Residents Association attended a Swindon Borough Council meeting on 25/07/24 to ask our newly elected Labour Council to clarify points set out in their Swindon Plan for Transport.
Councillor Jim Robbins (Head) categorically stated 3 times when asked, that there are no current or future plans to implement a ULEZ or LTN system in Swindon.
Representatives asked the following questions:
Reg Bates - asked to clarify meanings in the document; such as transport gateways and corridors, and also the meaning of reducing the car on the street scene.
Andy Osborne - Are there any long term plans to introduce such a scheme like ULEZ?
Debbie Hicks - Are there any plans to introduce any scheme which would charge motorists to use the roads?
Our questions were reported in the local Swindon Advertiser and we also made the BBC.
So we have it on record that the Council deny introducing driving restrictions in Swindon in the future.
Local Residents Associations are important in this age in order to keep their Councils in check.
