The Triple Test measures three substances in the mother's blood:

AFP : Produced by the fetal liver

Low levels of UE3 can also suggest a higher risk of Down syndrome


Human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG): Another hormone produced by the placenta

In the case of Down syndrome, the typical pattern observed in the Triple Test is:

-High hCG levels
