NEWS: Gates in the Sky - Docking Technology by ISRO.

A) ISRO successfully demonstrated docking technology through the SpaDeX mission.
B) This is a major step for India’s future space missions.


1) What is Docking : Docking means joining two spacecraft in orbit while moving at 28,000 km/h.


2) Mission Details :
a) Launched via PSLV-C60 (Dec 30, 2024).
b) Used two satellites for docking tests.
c) Fourth stage of rocket carried 24 payloads.
d) Included a plant germination experiment in space.


3) Why is Docking Technology Important?
1. Better Space Missions
a) Helps build large spacecraft in orbit.
b) Overcomes rocket weight limits by launching parts separately.
c) Enables heavy interplanetary missions.
d) Supports Chandrayaan-4 lunar sample return mission.

2. Long-Duration Spaceflight
a) Allows repairing & refueling satellites in space.
b) Makes resupply missions possible.
c) Needed for future human missions to Mars.
d) Useful for space mining operations.

ವಿವಿಧ ಇಲಾಖೆಗಳ (ಉಳಿಕೆ ಮೂಲ ವೃಂದದ) 277 Group-B ಹುದ್ದೆಗಳ ನೇಮಕಾತಿಗೆ KPSC ಯು 2025 ಜನವರಿ-18 ರಂದು ನಡೆಸಲು ಉದ್ದೇಶಿಸಿದ್ದ ಕಡ್ಡಾಯ ಕನ್ನಡ ಪರೀಕ್ಷೆಯನ್ನು ಮಾತ್ರ ಇದೀಗ ಮುಂದೂಡಲಾಗಿದೆ.

KEY TERMS IN BUDDHISM:

1) Chaityas :Prayer halls for monks.

2) Viharas : Monasteries.

3) Pravrajya : Ceremony marking renunciation and becoming a novice monk, involving shaving the head and wearing ochre robes.

4) Upasampada : Ordination ceremony where a novice becomes a full-fledged member of the monastic community.

5) Uposatha : Ceremonies held on full moon and new moon days.

6) Parajika : Refers to defeat; includes four serious offenses leading to expulsion from the Sangha (sexual misconduct, theft, killing, false spiritual claims).

7) Pavarana : Buddhist holy day marking the end of the rainy season, celebrated on the full moon of Ashvin. Monks confess offenses from the retreat period.

8) Upasakas : Male lay followers of the Buddha, Dhamma, and Sangha who haven’t taken monastic vows.

9) Upasikas : Female lay followers of the Buddha, Dhamma, and Sangha who haven’t taken monastic vows.

17) Shakra : Another name for God Indra in Buddhism.

18) Sarvastivadin : Theravada school believing in the existence of all phenomena across time (past, present, future).

19) Sautrantika : A school that accepts only the Sutras as valid, rejecting commercial literature, emphasizing the Suttapitaka and Vinayapitaka.

20) Sammitiya : One of the early Buddhist schools.
