New online safety code in the crosshairs as Elon Musk’s X takes Coimisiún na Meán to the High Court

Under EU law, the Irish State is obliged to regulate video-sharing platforms and streaming services established out of Dublin for the whole of Europe. The new code means platforms such as Elon Musk's X (formerly Twitter), are obliged to comply or face fines of up to €20 million, or 10 per cent of a platform’s annual turnover, whichever is greater.

So we're getting to the end of 2024, and what a strange, weird, confounding year it has been.

Anyway, here is a list of streams I did this year.

1: Stream where I go into the history and the background of the two referendums that happened in March of this year.

2: Stream where I go into the results and outcome of the referendums. What mistakes were make, why they failed and what the consequences will be.

3: Stream where I go through the technical details on how Ireland's voting system works and why there would be vote splitting in the locals and the general election as a result.

4: Stream on the housing market. The first of two. This one I talk about the psychology, the economics and Rory Hearne's solutions to the problem.

5: Stream where I talk about the tent city, Ireland's foreign policy and resource management/resource capacity for Ireland to build and provide infrastructure.

6: Stream on Coolock.

7: Stream on the Irish economy, pensions and funding, taxation, Trump winning prediction and the impacts of that on future Irish events.

8: Stream on predictions for the local and European elections.

9: Second stream on the Irish housing market. Whereas the first one was based on psychology, this one was more technical. It went into supply, Irish vulture funds, banking credit, profit margins and NAMA.

10: Stream on predictions of the general election. Also went into the recent history of Ireland from 2020-2024.

11: Stream on the outcome of the general election and what the results mean going forward.

I mentioned on the stream that FF/FG wanted a coalition with Labour for the following reasons.

1: They can have the usual "smaller party gets destroyed" result when the next election rolls around.

2: They can handover the more controversial departments.

3: The media will be nicer to them because the media likes Labour.

4: The perception with the General Election has been the right wing did badly and we need to go more left.

5: Easier to control, compared to some random rural TDs.

Earlier today, they've pretty much come out and said all of this.

Labour are sellouts and Bacik clearly wants the coalition to happen.

However, they know they'll be wiped out if the go into this coalition, hence the trying to form a left wing alliance with other parties talk going on right now.
