This is to inform all members of the university community, particularly students, that the examinations scheduled to commence on Monday, 25th November, 2024 have been postponed by one (1) week.

The postponement is to enable the academic staff to have a little rest after a rigorous examination exercise and to also, allow the students to have additional time to prepare for the examinations.

Arising from the above, the postponed examinations would now commence on Monday, 2nd December, 2024. Management of the university wishes all the students participating in the examinations a resounding success.

The National body of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has presented an award of appreciation to the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman, Governing Council, Ekiti State University, Ado Ekiti, Professor Akin Oyebode.

The award was presented to Professor Oyebode at an event held in a popular hotel in Abuja.

While presenting the award, the National President, Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Professor Emmanuel Osodeke said that the award was presented to Professor Oyebode in recognition of his commitment and inestimable contribution towards the struggle of ASUU. He described the awardee as a revered scholar of repute.

In his remarks, the Pro – Chancellor, Ekiti State University, Professor Akin Oyebode expressed deep appreciation to ASUU for the award.

The event was attended by eminent personalities such as a former President of the Nigeria Labour Congress, Comrade Hassan Sunmonu, the Executive Secretary, National Universities Commission (NUC), Mr. Chris Maiyaki, the Executive Secretary, Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFUND), Arch. Sonny Echono, the Vice Chancellor, Ekiti State University, Ado Ekiti, Professor Babatola Ayodele, among others.

Professor Akin Oyebode was the Vice Chancellor of the then University of Ado Ekiti (now Ekiti State University, Ado Ekiti) between year 2000 and 2004. He was appointed as the Pro -Chancellor & Chairman, Governing Council, Ekiti State University, Ado Ekiti by the Visitor to the university, His Excellency, Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji in January, 2023.

It has been realized that some students are yet to even upload a passport until now, According to an insider, some immoral pictures are also uploaded by students on portal as passport, which has made the management to reproduce a lot of certificates as pictures with BRA, twisted tongue, turned buttocks cannot appear on certificates of the university. The University has laid emphasis on this, and now The penalty for not uploading a white background and an unbefitting passport is 40,000.

As part of efforts to secure schools in Ekiti State against possible attacks by bandits, the Nigeria Police Force in partnership with the State Government has set up a special team known as Schools Protection Squad.

The squad is expected to keep vigil at all schools within the state with the aim of making them secured for teaching and learning.
