Israel strikes Houthi targets in Yemen a day after drone attack on Tel Aviv

The Israeli military said on Saturday that it had struck targets in the Houthi-controlled regions of #Yemen, close to the port city of Hodeidah, following the months-long series of #Houthi attacks on Israeli targets. Those included a drone assault on Tel Aviv Friday that killed an Israeli citizen and injured 10 others.

In what it called an operational update posted on social media, the #Israel Defense Forces said the locations bombed by its fighter jets in Yemen had been military targets.

Secret Service rushes Trump off stage after popping noises heard at his Pennsylvania rally

Former President #DonaldTrump was rushed off the stage just minutes into his rally in #Pennsylvania on Saturday, after loud noises that sounded like gunshots were heard. Trump is currently safe and is expected to survive, according to two senior law enforcement officials briefed on the matter. He had blood on the side of his head and his ear.

Trump was speaking when he reached for the side of his face as popping sounds rang out over the rally. He then crouched down as Secret Service agents rushed the stage and surrounded him. He was quickly escorted into a vehicle, walking off the stage with agents on all sides.

Screams from the audience rang out as the scene unfolded.

Russian strike hits Kyiv's main children's hospital

#Ukraine: In Kyiv, Ohmatdyt Children’s Hospital was hit, killing two people, including a doctor. At least 16 others, including seven children were injured, according to Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko, and patients were forced to evacuate into the street. In the city of Kryvyi Rih, at least 10 people were killed, officials said.

Man arrested in New York City with a gun, 8 loaded magazines, an NYPD vest and other weapons, police say

The #NYPD is investigating whether a #Queens man who was arrested Wednesday had plans to carry out an attack before he was pulled over and found with a gun, eight loaded magazines and other weapons, according to police officials with knowledge of the investigation.

Officers stopped Judd Sanson after noticing a blacked-out license plate on the Black Ford Explorer he was driving around 1:30 a.m., according to the police. The officers ended up finding a large cache of weapons, handcuffs, NYPD uniform items and a New York City transit vest, NYPD Chief of Department Jeffrey B. Maddrey told reporters Wednesday. Sanson, 27, was taken into custody and now faces charges of criminal possession of a weapon – a loaded firearm, criminal possession of a weapon, unlawful possession of ammo feed device, and an obscured license plate. In court Thursday, his lawyer entered a not guilty plea and Sanson was remanded into custody. His next hearing is set for Monday.

During their search of Sanson’s car, officers also found a 9-millimeter Glock, 100 rounds of ammunition, a stun gun, multiple knives, a weighted whip, an expandable baton, heavy body armor and two axes, Maddrey said. The man allegedly had a bullet-proof vest with an NYPD patch on the front as well as an orange MTA vest typically worn by workers in New York City subways, according to police officials with knowledge of the investigation. Police displayed the items at a news conference on Wednesday, including the Guy Fawkes mask made popular by the movie “V for Vendetta.” According to an affidavit released Thursday, police found an expandable baton with the words “left me no choice,” “you gon learn today” (sic) and “astaghfirullah” written in marker. That latter phrase is Arabic for “I seek forgiveness in God,” the affidavit states. Sanson also told an officer, in sum and substance, “Sorry, I’ll take it off. There’s a lot of drunk people nowadays,” according to the affidavit.

Police arrest dozens of pro-Palestinian protesters at Columbia University

Special #NYPD units arrived at the Columbia University campus in #NYC and detained pro-Palestinian students who were protesting in the historic Hamilton Hall. The police entered Hamilton Hall through a window and broke down the barricades inside the building, and took dozens of students out of the campus and detained them. #NY police also removed the Gaza Solidarity Camp tents on campus. Shortly before the police intervention, Columbia University issued a statement asking for NYPD assistance to restore order and safety to the community.
