Making the most out of Mock Tests
(Since Prelims Season > Diwali Season)

A. When to start?
-
Start early, start small. Start giving Open Mocks from November onwards (even without revision, UPSC will anyway throw random questions at you even in the exam)

- Increase the frequency as the exam approaches. One test a week from December/January (based on your previous Prelims experience) and then gradually increase it to 2-3 a week. Wind up it all by April end/May beginning.

B. How many to attempt?
-
Two to three sectional tests per subject to cover the entire syllabus.
- At least 10 FLTs, preferably from different institutes.

C. How to analyse?
-
Identify your areas of weakness and strength (based on how logically you can answer something you havenโ€™t studied).
- Formulate a strategy for time management in the actual exam (no. Of optimum iterations).
- Beware of your mistakes (misreading, lack of knowledge, lack of revision, confusing concepts etc.) and try to avoid them.
- Skim through the model answers, no need to make notes out of it.

D. How to revise?
-
Scrape out any important piece of information while reading the explanation to the questions and revise it periodically. No need to revise all the questions/ answers.

Happy Mock-Testing! ๐Ÿฅณ
