And lastly, I will NEVER charge you for content. EVER. I love what I do, Meridian confirmed to me I really did do the right thing walking out of my job, this really is where I feel I need to be. I am passionate about the Ledger and all things Stellar. I love talking to people about the Network and want more people to know about Stellar and all the amazing things that are being built on it and the updates and launches coming soon. I feel these are things that should be celebrated and thereā€™s a bridge we can build connecting developers and their products to real world consumers, not just through Telegram but other platforms as well. We have a twitter/X page now too - I canā€™t wait to speak with a developer who is building products for Africa, and I just imagine doing a live space on X sometime soon and it having the potential to open doors for so many people who might just be scrolling one day and come in. The impact of our conversation could empower an entire community elsewhere.

Why not, drop into the comments below and join our research group, Iā€™d love you to be more involved with where we are goingā€¦ what else do YOU want to get out of this space? Any developers you REALLY wanna hear from? Let me know!

And whilst you come up with more ideas for IOTLā€¦ I have to figure out a way of how I can distribute 14 items of Stellar swag I was very generously given to share with you, the IOTL community. There are 5 bumbags (aka fanny packs (much to my mumā€™s horror when she read the label ā€“ she had no idea the language difference from UK/US!)), 6 baseball hats, 2 lapel badges and a super cute Stellar alien. How cool is that!

Love you guys, definitely a TL;DR šŸ˜‚ thanks for reading to the end. I promise no more long posts for a while!

See you in the research group,
K. Xx

My closing thoughtsā€¦

Having spoken with many developers and the complexities surrounding an explorer, whilst we might notice things that are not to our liking and information not quite where it should be compared to others, when you compare what our explorers look like compared to BTC, ETH even XRP, who have all been around longer, we are blessed with what we have ā€“ especially for only 8 million users. We really are in the early stages of things still being built and it really is up to us to DYOR and cross reference everything or build it ourselves.

What I found at Meridian, is despite all these amazing projects that are being built, not enough people know about them, or the Stellar Networkā€¦ Yes, there are some heavy hitters that have been around a while, or had great exposure, but what about all the others? The hidden gems? These people WANT to have an audience to speak to about what theyā€™re building, theyā€™re passionate about their product and theyā€™re solving real problems in the world with what they are building. Would you love to discuss their projects and their transactions alsoā€¦ bringing real world launches and timed events, with synchronised transactions that took place (think first smart contract launched for example) and find it on the Ledger amongst other things?! A truly ā€œWhere blockchain meets the real worldā€ group? Iā€™d love you to see a developer coming on youā€™re interested in and have the opportunity to ask them your questions! Or maybe find out some technical information that only people who build would know how to answer?

Iā€™d also want to still keep IOTL educational by doing more tutorials and smaller digs and maybe a bigger dig or two in the years to come, but all of the existing tutorials I put out previously are grossly out of date and need re-doingā€¦ so many updates from expertā€¦ and again I canā€™t do those updates with a ā€œLABELā€ on our account! So, the token launch and all that other good stuff is going to have to wait a little longerā€¦ I also need to step out of my comfort zone and embrace the developers chat in Discord and stop lurking - I always felt I had little girl syndrome around all these big beautiful brains, but having met so many of them, they've encouraged me to speak up and bridge that gap even further.

Iā€™m also keen from my conversation with Justin, to learn about the tools available to help us search things in Stellarcore and what we can build together. Whilst we have no say in other peopleā€™s development tools, we have full control on anything we build. So letā€™s explore that.

I missed all the seminars for the rest of the day (YouTube catch up is my friend) and for the remainder of the afternoon, and after a quick change into a dress, alllll through the Gala Dinner, I spent back outside talking to more and more developers. The venue was beautiful and I heard the food was delicious! But I was on cloud nine from the whole day of conversations so far and wanted to meet more and more developers, outside it was quiet and gave me the perfect opportunity to listen to what problems they were solving and how their Stellar journey was going. I asked everyone I spoke to if theyā€™d like to come on to IOTL and live talk with all of you about their projects and it was a resounding YES!

Day Threeā€¦
I hit the coffee stand ā€“ HARDā€¦ Iā€™d had about three hours sleep, although I got back to my accommodation early, I couldnā€™t sleep! I was soooooo full on adrenalin from the previous day and still on the phone gone 3am! That morning, yesterdayā€™s conversations were still buzzing around my head and there was one more day to goā€¦

Back in the Court Room, there were a scattering of tables where once the audience had been for the Main Stage. Each table was set up with a unique topic and a round table discussion was in place. I think there were 8 different topics at a time, so lots to choose from! I sat in with other attendees that were interested in engaging with policymakers and politicians who were not receptive to blockchain, not because I have a vested interest speaking with policy makers any time soon! My love lies in other areas of the blockchain, but more to hear about what the sticking points were and the resistance to change and how, if we are to bring in these emerging technologies we speak a language that is understood by both the policymakers and the general consumers so it is more receptive. Fascinating conversation with the people that are facing the challenge of bringing TradFi to DeFi on a daily basis!

My last coffeeā€¦ and my last round table of Meridian - product market fit in an industry that doesnā€™t careā€¦ this seminar really hit home to me about the importance of building something that people are actually going to want and use. You can have the best idea but if no one will use it, who are you building it for?

Nearly 3 years ago, I had the idea of building a new version of a Ledger, where finding transactions was simplified and streamlined to pinpoint transactions. I thought about building in tutorials, games, quizzes and quests, with an earn-as-you-learn education to transactions being made. I wanted to build IOTL as a community company, so ultimately YOU own it, not me or IOTL, and decisions are made through voting so YOU decide how IOTL is built, effectively having IOTL as a DAO at the end of construction. And that part I still intend to do, but the least of my interest now is building a new version of a Ledger!

As I was leaving Meridian, I bumped into a developer who has a super impressive portfolio having launching over 300+ digital products, I hoped Iā€™d get the chance to speak with him and in the car park I did! In a couple of months his company is launching another product and I asked him to come on to talk to you about itā€¦. and he said YES!! I was thrilled. We swapped contact details (later that evening I logged in to LinkedIn and seen he had sent me a connection request a couple of days before! We truly were meant to talk! I canā€™t wait to speak with you again soon, but I wonā€™t name drop you here just yet!).

What an end to a truly spectacular event!

Day Twoā€¦

What was the first thing I did when I arrived? You guessed it! Hit the Coffee Cart! It was gonna be a busy day today! There were so many stages I wanted to visit and so many of the discussions overlapped with other seminars I wanted to attend! Thank goodness all the sessions from Meridian will be posted on YouTube at some point and I can catch up with everything I missed! And so can you! (Iā€™ll share the link when they are posted).

My first Seminar took me to another area of Meridian I hadnā€™t visited yet, the Blockchain Borough (Partner Stage). I listened to Taurus discuss their involvement with over 30 banks and how they are bringing a digital asset platform to banking institutions worldwide. Let that sink in for a momentā€¦ Real World Assets (RWAā€™s) for banking institutes, through Taurus platform, on Stellar!

Whilst I was still digesting all the information from Taurus, I headed back to the Builders Bridge, (less intimidated this time) to listen to SDFā€™s Senior Software Engineer, Garand Tyson. He talked about a topic that doesnā€™t get talked about enough, Ledger bloatā€¦ all those transactions building up and what to do with ALL that data! He spoke about how Soroban is unique, in that when it launched, it had an in-built mechanism to archive the data and restoring it if required. He covered issues about how the data could be open to a malicious attack, and how the data could be ā€œtrickedā€ into creating a double payment of an asset in archive and what has been built around the problems to ensure that doesnā€™t happen. Whilst the archival/retrieval of data has been built in to Soroban pre-launch (think addresses beginning with ā€œCā€) it was never built into Stellar ā€œClassicā€ ā€“ the addresses beginning with ā€œGā€. So, the question I throw out to you, if the SCP vote on integrating archiving/retrieving data from Stellar Classic, how do you feel about that with the research you do? Should I reach out to him also and see if heā€™d like to connect with you guys and talk more about the archival on the classic ā€œGā€ addresses? I know I am intrigued to learn more!

Back to the coffee cartā€¦ what a start to the dayā€¦ My next session was in the Blockchain Borough, listening to Franklin Templeton talk about key innovative products they had built and how they were bridging the industries of TradFi to De-Fi with their tools. He spoke in depth about the exploration of many different blockchain networks and why ultimately they decided to build on Stellar. He confirmed the reasons we all fell in love with Stellar as well. Itā€™s faster, cheaper, more efficient, higher interoperability, more payment rails, stablecoins and RWAā€™s than any other network. The future really is on Stellar.

I went outside just before lunch and grabbed some fresh air and got talking to an awesome young man from the Netherlands, @Appie the next few hours just disappearedā€¦ he has built his own staking and liquidity rewards system, partnering up with many other developers on Stellar, with over 20 liquidity pools, paving the way for financial independence and sovereignty! We spent MANY hours over Meridian in deep discussions about what could be built and how we could collaborate together on future things! I donā€™t want to give anything away at this point (we are chatting again hopefully tomorrow or Tuesday) but I see some wonderful opportunities ahead for both IOTL and Authentic-Payment! Whilst we chatted outside, others joined us, I met many more incredibly talented developers and heard first-hand about what they were building. I was buzzing!

Later that afternoon, I held a BrainDate again, same topic. Nine people turned up!! Wasnā€™t expecting that! I showed inconsistencies from one Stellar Tool to another SDEX to EXPERT ā€“ and whilst I know there is nothing Stellar can do with regards to third-party apps and the information they display, it was interesting to hear others thoughts on the topic around the table from a consumer, developer and Stellar representative perspective and confirmation once again we shouldnā€™t be reliant on one or two sources for information.

As I was heading out of Meridian at the end of the first day, I bumped into Candace Kelly at the top of the stairs. I asked her about what we could do from a consumersā€™ perspective to ensure transparency of transactions at the back end being published on the public Ledgersā€¦ She advised that it was more of a technical issue and perhaps someone with a more technical background could adviseā€¦ at that very moment, Justin Rice walked past and she encourages him to join us and asked me to pose my question again to him, which I did. Justin explains, that the Ledger is 100% accurate in the transactions that are displayed, it is the third-party Ledger, (keyword here) ā€œExplorersā€ that display that information and it is something that should be discussed with them. Quite rightly, SDF are not responsible for how that data is displayed, just that the data from the Network is 100% accurate. What the third-party does with that data after that, is up to them. There are other Ledger ā€œexplorersā€ available, 14 so far I have found, and that we shouldnā€™t just rely on one source for that data, no matter how comprehensive, we should be using all the Stellar tools available to cross-reference for discernment. And heā€™s 100% correct. I learned from Justin there are many tools available to access StellarCore (The heart of the Stellar Ecosytem) to pull data requests from the Network. This is something I really want to look into and see what tools can be built to help you with your research.

Justin / Candace thank you for your time.

After a spot of lunch (and another coffee!) I hit the Stellar Social Club, it was heaving with people all gathered in small groups engrossed in conversations. I picked up some amazing swag (these guys at Stellar know how to do swag!) and made my way back to the Main Stage to listen to Idris Elba and Dennelle Dixon discuss how he is empowering the people around him in Africa that are creators, actors, artists and entrepreneurs to realise financial independence. He exclusively revealed his new wallet he is launching called AKUNA solving a problem that is common place amongst African artists of being paid in a timely fashion for when the work is complete because of the payment rails, or lack of, that are currently in place. The user interface on the AKUNA wallet is warm and welcoming and you can see the personal detail that has gone into its creation, even down to the name that he chose.

I held a BrainDate shortly after, this was an opportunity to discuss a topic with like-minded people, and the topic I chose was transparency and discrepancies across platforms like SDEX and Expert. One person joined me halfway through and I spent time enthralled in listening to him and his journey as well as lightly discussing my topic. He was the loveliest conversationalist I could have had and I sincerely hope thereā€™s an opportunity for us to network again and collaborate in the future.

Before I knew it, it was already 4pm! I raced downstairs to the Builders Bridge (Developer Stage) and listened to Stellarbeat discuss the structure of the Stellar Network, how the Nodes work and the Quorums and what happens if one, two or multiple Nodes stop working and how it affects the resilience of the Network. If you didnā€™t know, this has happened on several occasions before in the past. Some or nearly all of the nodes just stopped communicating to each other and the Network. The most significant of these occasions, quite thankfully early on, led to the development of the SCP (Stellar Consensus Protocol), Stellar working on a PoA (Proof of Authority) system, NOT PoW or PoS like Bitcoin or Ethereum etc. I was a little bit daunted walking in there (not gonna lie! This was the Developers Stage and I felt like an imposter!) The host of the seminar clearly knows and loves his subject, I learned so much about the operational side of Stellar, and how you can see it all working through Stellarbeat. His explanations broke things down that even someone like myself, with no technical capabilities, could easily follow along with everything he was sayingā€¦ and I wondered to myself if I should reach out to him and invite him on to IOTL to discuss the Nodes and Quorums with all of you? I think youā€™d find it fascinating!

Happy Sunday!!

Iā€™m back, with another TL;DR update for you!

Tuesday 15th October, Meridian starts! Wow. From the moment I walked up to the building I could already feel the energy. There were hundreds of people circling the reception area by the time I arrived and quite frankly. I was already a little overwhelmed!! I checked in and made a beeline for the coffee stand to steady my nerves!

This wasnā€™t a normal coffee stand! This was being run by BeansApp ā€“ BeansApp allows you to pay in one token and they receive it in what-ever token they request back! Imagine being abroad, gasping for caffine and you only have IOTL tokens and need Euroā€™sā€¦ no problem with these guys! I set up a wallet, moved XLM over and payment was made in 6 seconds. Talk about making payments fluid! They even gave everyone 10 USDC to spend back with them for more coffeeā€¦ seamless payment in XLM and free coffeeā€¦? These guys speak my languageā€¦

You can see this type payment path transaction through the Ledger, especially in the airdrops we receive for micro amounts. Look at your own account, find an airdrop, expand a transaction and see all the different payment paths the transaction has taken to be completed! Itā€™s super impressive!

The first seminar of the day was on the Main Stage (in the Court Room) ā€“ a balconied, circular room, that screamed grandeur when you walked in. The intricate wood carvings and cornice from centuries before, intermixed with the high-performance lasers and tech set up for Meridian, it was the perfect setting for the 10th Anniversary of the Stellar Network. The room was already bustling with activity as people excitedly spotted others they knew and exchanged welcomesā€¦ but as the light faded, and the room grew quiet, Danelle Dixon took to the stageā€¦ She detailed her journey with Stellar over the last 6 years and her vision for Stellarā€™s continued approach to make payments seamless, frictionless between recipients. (Exactly what I had just seen at the Coffee Cart!). Dannelle highlighted the key-phrase of the conference ā€œTransformationā€ and what it meant for the direction ahead for Stellar. She touched on Stellarā€™s involvement with UNHCR and how they were ā€œTransformingā€ lives in Ukraine with Stellar Aid. She paved the way for all the other speakers of the event and was joined a while later on stage by Anthony Scaramucci.

Scaramucciā€™s long career working in finance was evident from the moment he engaged in the conversation, having worked on Wall Street for many years before moving over to the world of crypto, ETFā€™s and financial technology, conversing with both Presidential Elects, policy makers, the movers and shakers, he talked about the challenges he has been presented with moving the economy from TradFi (Traditional Finance ā€“ central banking institutes) to DeFi (De-centralised finance) and spoke of the growing interest of institutional adoption of Bitcoin and the impact blockchain technology is having on reshaping the global future.

After another trip to the coffee stand ā€“ I went back to the Main Stage to listen to Chris Brummer, Professor of Law at Georgetown University Law Center, and Faculty Director of Georgetown's Institute of International Economic Law and Candace Kelly, Chief Legal and Policy Officer for SDF discuss if blockchain compliance can be simplified. I was interested in hearing their discussion because for me, there has to be a level of compliance (centralisation) combined with the decentralisation aspect too, itā€™s about how best to help blockchain technology reach its full potential, without stifling it in regulations, but also remaining fully compliant, transparent and secure.

September 2024

The application to SCF, got rejected... And Iā€™m ok with that. It was always a long shot, but it gave me a chance to rethink things againā€¦ It would have been great to have had access to a development team and a small grant to keep me afloat whilst I built it ā€“ whilst it wasnā€™t to be with SCF, what if I could still build what I had in mind? But in a different order to what I had originally thoughtā€¦? Maybe step 5 needs to be step 1 and so onā€¦

This week I attended Meridian, the energy was electric. I got to speak to so many people and attend so many different seminars, listening to inspirational developers and the products they are building on chain with Stellar. I am still pumped and I think itā€™ll be another couple of days before my energy levels return to normal! It was such a great event and I am completely in awe at the projects that are being createdā€¦ the people, the conversations, the whole thing was just awesome.

Iā€™ll be telling you all about Meridian tomorrowā€¦ and some of the ideas I have for the future of IOTL! I canā€™t wait for you to hear them and have your input in the direction weā€™re going in. None of what I am doing would be possible without you here, reading this right now, so thank you, deeply, for being part of IOTLā€¦

Have a Stellar day, wherever your atoms are roaming!

Remember the PLOT TWISTā€¦

Expert updated their site that day with exactly the same features we were launching IOTL with in the evening. It absolutely knocked the wind out of my sailsā€¦ Having been somewhat GASLIGHTED by these guys for over a year, on so many things I was showing you, youā€™ve only got to scroll back through the timeline above to see so many discrepancies in what I have talked about vs whatā€™s thereā€¦ when you have been striving for truth for so long, and the proof you provide keeps getting hidden, or changed, mis-labelled on Expert, seeing everything we had worked for that was unique to IOTL, was now on Expert, just felt like we were copy-catā€™s and not innovators. After a year of these shenanigans, it just got to meā€¦ Iā€™m so sorry I just faded away and disappeared, I know so many of you noticed, I hope you understand why nowā€¦ I had also returned to a full-time job in May 2023 and I excelled in what I did. It was easy to bury myself in that as a distraction. But the pull of the Ledger was always still there for me. Despite not posting things here, I had still been rooting around in the transactions, amongst other things in my spare time.

Jan 2024, I sent an NDA out to people. Everyone, but one person signed it. The ā€œdeveloperā€. I reached out to try and encourage him but without pressure. A couple of months later, he messaged to say he no longer had time to invest in building for IOTL, saying he was working on something with his brother and wanted to remove the code from his server. I asked him for some time to find a replacement to host the site (now you guys know me and my technical skills right, kettles and calculators). It was never just a quick phone call or a button push for me to figure thingsā€¦ so a few weeks later, imagine typing in our domain iotl.live and finding the ā€œdeveloperā€ had (without telling me) re-routed everything already built, to his own website, taken our branding off, added his own branding, changed the introduction page AND ADDED MORE UPDATES!!! What a guy!!! BTW you STILL have our logo in your title bar on the top of your webpage, if youā€™d so kindly remove it. I donā€™t want any more association to you but I couldnā€™t be more grateful that you did that! You showed me who the people are around me! You exposed yourself and others for who they truly were. You gave me the opportunity to re-think what I could do with IOTL and add more value to the community and what needed building. So genuinely, thank you!

July 2024ā€¦

I went to SheFi in Brussels. This was a blockchain festival for all things DeFi for women ā€“ hence SheFi (cool brand right?!) I was FILLED with inspiration of other womenā€™s storiesā€¦ and the theme of the event was ā€œDo it scaredā€ā€¦ A couple of weeks later, I did it scaredā€¦ I walked out of my job. It was not where I wanted to be. Whilst I did smash everything I worked for, there were no rewards, no heart filled moments, no inspiration, satisfaction and no want or desire to be thereā€¦ especially when you covered two peopleā€™s jobs for a year and when they finally start the new person, they put them on 10% a year more! Byyyyyeeeeeeā€¦. I needed to be back where I felt I belong, in the Ledger, creating content, tutorials, networking with other Stellar enthusiasts. I missed you! I put together a submission for SCFā€¦ I nervously sent it offā€¦ I have no coding experience, no technical ability, nothing but myself and a conceptā€¦ but their motto is ā€œWhere blockchain meets the real worldā€ so, I had to have a goā€¦

It's On The Ledger

19 Oct, 13:09

Hi everyone, as promised, the catch up post/s

TL;DR

Letā€™s take it backā€¦

Way back in June 2022, I created the IOTL token. I was also making tutorials, quizzes and games for IOTL. I wanted to empower people with their knowledge on the transactions, so they didnā€™t feel what I felt and went through in April. By collecting other people interested in the transactions within our research group, I felt we could piece more things together and self-educate ourselves about the Ledger through the group. I learned so much through the conversations we were having. I hosted live shows and we explored so many parts of the Stellar Network together. It was great fun!

July 2022, I spoke to a ā€œdeveloperā€ and told him that I wanted to create a new style of Ledger and he listened to my ideas and watched my PowerPoint. Heā€™d never built anything on Stellar before and said heā€™d have a go. I didnā€™t launch the token then as I didnā€™t have a viable product for you to invest into. I had seen so many tokens where you invest into a concept and wait for the product, I wanted to have a product BEFORE you invested, so you could actually see what I was trying to build and get excited about being part of something that was physically accessible. I didnā€™t want to sell you a dream I wanted something tangible. (I also hadnā€™t realised until months later that heā€™d shared what he had been building with the QSI Audit Team BEFORE me, and that should have been a red flag, but I swear my spirit animal is a bull and I went running towards more of those red flags and we carried on building)

January 2023ā€¦ I put a video outā€¦ course I didā€¦ about a deep dive I did into the TD3N account, showing the movements of payments and XLM crossing through the accounts. There were a lot of older assets in there as well as the newer ones and there were a lot of dots to connect to show the patterns, especially memos... and side squirrels of older tokens XLM movements and questionable activity. I analysed the account up to July 2022 ā€“ a two-year audit. Itā€™s been another two years since then and Iā€™m sure thereā€™s lots more to talk about on TD3N. Amongst others. In this video I also exposed the vulnerability of the signer accounts and chose one that was a signer of an SDF account to prove a pointā€¦

IOTL earned a ā€œSCAMā€ warning that day and it kinda tarnished the image of the community I am building! So whilst I know so many of you want to support IOTL and purchase the token, I donā€™t feel comfortable launching a token when thereā€™s such a title on our stellar.expert page. Especially when we set up to be purely educational! It gives the wrong vibes!! Would you want to invest in us if you saw that? Especially when you search for ā€œIOTLā€ on expert, we donā€™t actually exist. But you can find us through a search on SDEX, along with a cloned, fake version of IOTL that launched two months later, that has ACTUALLY ICOā€™d!! Please. Donā€™t buy that one!

In June 2023, a year after the token was created the ā€œdeveloperā€ I had been working with had the start of something we could finally show you! We were bringing in features that were different to what Expert had, an easier way to sift through the transactions, through filtering and searching the results to EXACTLY what you wantedā€¦ we scheduled a live call to announce the launch!

Hi everyone... Iā€™m sure youā€™ve noticed, Itā€™s been somewhat quiet around here over the last year or so, but, moving forward, thatā€™s going to change!

Firstly, thereā€™s a little bit of admin Iā€™d like to take care of:

1) Thank you to everyone in the past who put XLM in the IOTL account as support, I appreciate you soooo hard ā€“ youā€™re frikkinā€™ awesome!! You supported what IOTL was back then and Iā€™m incredibly grateful, but itā€™s been over a year since I posted anything decent, and as that was back then, Iā€™m sending it allllllll back to you, with an abundance of gratitude ā€“ thank you, so, so much. If you loved what IOTL did before and want to support the channel again in the future, that choice, is yours to make!

2) To everyone that has continued to hold a trustline to the IOTL token and supported from the wings ā€“ thank you to you too ā€“ it means the world to know youā€™re still there!

As a ā€œtokenā€ of my love to you guys, the IOTL community, anyone that has sent XLM or is still holding a trustline (Snapshot already taken šŸ˜‰) Iā€™m sending you 0.5 XLM ā€“ to cover the trustline cost of you supporting IOTL.

Keep an eye on your Stellar wallet for the XLM being sent to you, it will be a direct payment and NOT in pending and you know where you can check this in your account of courseā€¦ becauseā€¦ Itā€™s On The Ledger šŸ˜‰

So, what is happening with IOTL I hear you askā€¦

So much to tell youā€¦ā€¦ but firstā€¦ Meridianā€¦šŸ„³

Hi everyone,

Some of you may (or may not) be aware that the Atomic Wallet was compromised a few days ago and funds were moved to a different address. LINK HERE

We have spoken to one wallet holder who unfortunately lost XLM, XRP and ALGO. IOTL have done a preliminary look into where the funds have gone and what happened.

We would like to try and build a bigger picture of what has taken place. If you or someone you know has had their Atomic wallet compromised over the last few days can you please reach out to either @KIR510 or @Ascensionmatters or @DeeMarie74 please with the weblink to the wallet and any additional supporting information that can help us help you?

Thanks in advance.
