Namby pamby is a phrase I learnt this week. It means sweet and childish. Disapprovingly of course. It reminded me of this jibber jabber I would like to call writing. Making something out of nothing. I have been thinking about the role I play in my own suffering, let alone the suffering of others. What does one do when this is all one knows? What is the point of being good if it is a striving. If it stands as an opposite to the bad, is it really good? I have tried changing myself for a very long time. It is hard not to be a victim of spiritual pride after a milestone or two. A glimpse of the falseness of trying to be better leaves one in quite a hopeless place. Standing, or sitting alone and naked. It is commonly accepted that for a tree to extend to the heavens its roots have got to reach hell. Of hell Dante writes abandon all hope all ye who enter here. It is difficult to do namby pamby hopes around a question such as hopelessness. It is nothing, not a thing. Words are a poor translation.

No hurry in Africa. Every time I hear these words from random strangers I smile. Deadlines are quite the bummers. Perpetual loops of fear that just keep repeating themselves. At last there is summation of terror when the dreadful day is upon you. Then nothing. Life keeps on lifing and you live to suffer the same fate again and again. Despite the fact that it drains energy. The falseness of fear never dawns on me. One is so conditioned to hoping or despairing that there is no room for level headedness. One is impatient and so hung up on time. I wonder what would happen if I were humble. If I did not fall into despair or climb that ladder of hope. If I beheld this dread with affection. If I were motionless afraid of scaring it away like it was some bird of beauty. This all sounds romantic. Fear is generally a bad thing. One should do away with it as soon as soonest. That does not take though. It does not work. It is the way of knowers. It is difficult to be saying "I know" and listen. I say this because "I know*. Do you also "know" ?

It feels like misbehaving. Like a pendulum bob at its highest point. All energy is potential energy. Should I walk to my nearest drug dealer? Should I eat someone? or something. Maybe I should just write and do some reflecting. A good mirror is like a good friend. Writing of course has some distortions but a silhouette does beat blindness. How do you spend your leisure? I, myself, like sleeping and dreaming. I tried playing music instruments but i could not answer some fundamental questions. What do I say with my guitar? Do I just keep it simple and sing of love, hope and the gods. It seemed to me pointless to praise and preach and the light if nobody could see it. Have I seen this light? Or just shadows cast by it. Like the fish that goes to the queen and asks "What is the sea?" The queen fish replies, "The sea is all around you; it is what you live in." The young fish, confused, says, "But I don't see it!" So the week flies on and another weekend brings with it this feeling of potential. Space from reason and progress.

Its raining over here. There is a different quality to the air. Sometimes when I am quiet and I fall asleep the order is restored. It feels like a breath of this cold air. What is order ? Thinking these through is often suffocating. But i am a curious fellow. furthermore, what is my life about anyways? I am going to bear children one day, how will i nourish them? Fire needs oxygen. What can a suffocating lung like mine offer a candle. Entertainment perhaps. Sports, video games, movies and music. Wonderful delights. Some dark philosopher said one can only know what is enough when he knows what is more than enough. Entertainment seems to this poor chap more than enough and still cheap at the same time. Only life and death seem worth watching. You may not share this opinion, I do not even know if it is mine. I do not know shi% about fu%#. Why is it raining in the deserts? Where there is no sentient being to laugh about it. I recently learnt that the biggest desert in our world is antarctica. A desert is defined by the meagre precipitation. Picture this, a lone tree grows in a cold stone in winter, nowhere is there warmth to be found.

It's common to look at your own writing with contempt once in a while. This writing, this living, this daily actions do not come from unfathomable depths. They are as mediocre as the man who went halfway up the hill. Someone once described my life as nothing but a constant running away from silence. You would think switching course and running straight after it would do the trick. It does for some. Some are no longer interested with anything but their own anguish, it does not work for them. Running after silence is an offspring of The Run. A highbrow cousin of ambition. So what then? I do not know. Hope is as hollow as fear. Perhaps those two are the biceps and the triceps of the hand that is chocking the life out of the human mind. To quote Rumi, " God said to the hand of death, grab hold of worldly men. To the mind, return from where you came. To the soul, carry all the treasures that you can, fly away to the unseen and cry no more."

There goes a myth of a land called Samarkand. A land where the rich are kind and the poor have god. A fisher man's son heard this story. He set out to find the place. On his way he ran out of food and water. Soon afterwards he came across four monks and asked them for these things. Three of the monks pounced on him. One just sat back and watched. The boy tried fighting them off but didn't manage. All the tension left his body after realising the futility of using his strength. When he came to he found food and water left where the fourth monk sat. The boy could have just laid there and die. Instead he drinks, eats, continues on his pilgrim, finds Samarkand and ends up being a prophet. I probably would have laid there and wished for death. I am not simple enough to cast away defilement like some worn out slippers. Those were simple times, no videos to serve as a constant reminder. I think individuality robs us of our innocence. By innocence I mean a mind that is free from hurt. Try to imagine that. Being so open to pain that you can accept it completely. Unlike fishermen, we are also not conditioned to be humble. We are always guarding our cornerstone, our story. Our minds are weak from worrying about what the men will do to us. It's unlikely that the men will change but supposing they do, a worrying mind will always find something to worry about. You will worry about the bees stinging you. You will worry about snakes. Bacteria and viruses. Ugly frogs trespassing on your feet. Life is a risky affair. As much as we guard our stories, virtue demands that we breathe out. Can there be freedom without virtue?

Space
I recently learnt that drinking yourself stupid doesn't help you forget. That it is something more subtle. The brain is like this sieve always collecting and withholding dust from this moment. When intoxicated though, those cells go on holiday. They stop storing information. It seems like something forgotten, but deep down there is nothing to remember. There is only space. Space from ourselves. Space is a beautiful thing. One must have space. The observable universe is expanding faster than light can go through. I often wonder if the mind of man can capture that. Right left centre, the little kids are hit with knowledge is the key, education is the light...like it is the highest principle. Most of us are well educated but what excellence has it brought to our live? Where is the space? Where is the beauty in man?( and woman of course) Is it just in the ass😂.

The Moon Cannot Be Stolen

A master lived alone in a simple hut at the foot of a mountain. One night, a thief broke in, hoping to find something valuable. But the hut was so bare that there was nothing to steal—no gold, no jewelry, and not even food.
Hearing the commotion, the master awoke and caught the thief in the act. However, instead of being angry, he looked at the thief with me compassion and said,
“You’ve come such a long way to visit me. I cannot let you leave empty-handed.”
The master took off the robe he was wearing, handed it to the thief, and said warmly,
“Here, take my robe as a gift.”
The confused thief took the robe and fled into the night, unsure how to respond.
Later that night, the master sat quietly by the window, gazing at the brilliant full moon shining in the sky. After a while, he sighed gently to himself and said,
“Poor fellow, I wish I could give him this beautiful moon.”

A dead friend once managed to convince me that we don't breath air, it's the air that breaths us. We were drunk and causeless. Idiots with no shame. Like the angels that fly because they take themselves lightly. Sadly feelings like these don't take for long. Unless your Diogenes the dog. It's no fun forcing the air in and out your lungs. It's no fun drinking outside the tavern. Unless you are the oriental master drinking under the moon. The moon that gets coral reefs in a naughty mood. Most of us want in on the action inside the tavern. Me too. I'm impatient with the moon. Always telling it what I want. Giving it meaning. Calling it meaningless some other time. Then I get back into the tavern. Misery really does love company. The newcomers they like pleasure and power. For those who have tasted felicity, pleasure has lost its vitality. Power has become distasteful. But there is room for pain. Hi to all the Lord Pain (Naruto) fans in this tavern. I hope you see the moon grow full this week.

Trees. In those distant days, some of them were revered. Some were too tough for elephants to chew through. Some were too subtle to be broken by the wind. Some had ambitious roots that dug deep into the earth, it's crust at least. Some got turned into paper for man to record his emptiness. Then there is the seed that is making its way to the surface at this moment. Full of vitality. A poem the earth writes on the sky. Does the earth know short poems and long poems? A band that I listen to sneer when people mourn for a kid but won't cry for a king. 21 Pilots, you've probably heard of them. No one has lived longer than a dead child. When I look at a child and reflect at how wiser I am, a part of me feels like I am killing humour. Like I am closing a window on the sunlight that fuels my germination. Loss of soul is the sickness that was most detested in those distant days. Now it stands as majestic as a hill. The view from the top of a hill is decent. The view of a hill from a plain is decent too.
