What to expect from this month's CPI

Here are a few things to consider when trading this month's CPI:

The rate of annual headline inflation in the USA has declined for six months running so a further drop seems to be the most likely scenario.

A significant divergence from the consensus of X.X% would probably drive higher volatility; however, one month's inflation by itself is unlikely to affect the Fed's decision in December.

The chance of inflation resurging as the Fed cuts rates still seems to be low, but a surprise higher could rekindle these fears.

Euro-dollar's losses last week around the elections were very strong, so it's questionable whether it can push much lower unless the release is notably higher than expected.

$7 was the peak of M15's ATR for gold after last month's release. Volatility is likely to be higher this time unless the actual numbers are very close to the consensus.
