RELEASED.

The long-awaited admission list for the 2024/2025 academic session at the Olusegun Agagu University of Science and Technology (OAUSTECH) has finally been released.

As of today, Tuesday, August 27, 2024, only the merit and first batch of admitted candidates have been announced, with promises of subsequent batches.

Prospective students who applied for admission into OAUSTECH can now check their admission status on the university’s official website or through the JAMB portal.

AGE REQUIREMENT FOR SSCE IN NIGERIA 2025/2026 – (DETAILS BELOW)

The minister of education has announced new age requirements for admission in Nigeria for the following examinations:

West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE)
National Business and Technical Examinations Board (NABTEB)
Senior Secondary Certificate of Education (NECO)
Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME)
The age requirement for sitting for Senior School Certificate Examinations (SSCE) in Nigeria has been a topic of discussion among students, parents, and educators.

As the 2025/2026 academic session approaches, it is essential to clarify the approved age requirements for various examination bodies in Nigeria, including JAMB, WAEC, NECO, and NABTEB.

In Nigeria, the minimum age requirement for SSCE is NOW 18 years old.

The age requirement for JAMB UTME 2025/2026 is NOW 18 years old.
The age requirement for WAEC 2025/2026 is NOW 18 years old.
The age requirement for NECO 2025/2026 is NOW 18 years old.
The age requirement for NABTEB 2025/2026 is NOW 18 years old.
The Federal Government has prohibited individuals under the age of 18 from taking part in the National Examinations Council and West African Examinations Council exams.

The Minister of Education, Prof. Tahir Mamman disclosed this when he featured on Channels Television’s ‘Sunday Politics’ program on Sunday night.

Mamman explained that the federal government has directed WAEC, which conducts the West African Senior School Certificate Examination and NECO, which oversees the Senior School Certificate Examination to enforce the 18-year age requirement for candidates wishing to take these exams.

UNICAL Cancels Aptitude Test for 2024/2025 Admission, Adopts O’Level Point Grading System.

The University of Calabar (UNICAL) has announced the cancellation of its 2024/2025 Post-UTME screening aptitude test exercise, earlier scheduled to commence on August 26, 2024.

The decision was made due to factors such as fuel scarcity, accommodation, logistics, and security concerns.

Instead, the university has adopted the O’Level point grading system for admissions.

Candidates who chose UNICAL as their first choice institution and have registered online for the Post-UTME screening exercise are advised to upload their O’Level results at the nearest JAMB-CBT centre.

Using the point tally system, the university will score candidates based on their O’Level grades.

To facilitate this, the university has extended the Post-UTME registration deadline by one week, to August 31, 2024.

Candidates yet to register are urged to do so within this timeframe, as the portal will be closed finally on August 31, 2024.

FG ORDERS SCHOOLS TO SUBMIT ADMISSION LIST FOR 2024/2025 ACADEMIC S3SSION,THREATENS SANCTIONS AGAINST DEFAULTERS

The Federal Government has directed all higher institutions to submit their admission lists for the 2024/2025 academic session immediately after matriculation.

This directive is aimed at combating fake degree racketeering in the country.

According to a memo by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), institutions must submit their matriculation lists to the Federal Ministry of Education no later than three months after matriculation ceremonies.

The list must be submitted through JAMB’s dedicated channel.

Failure to comply with this directive will result in severe consequences, including sanctions.

JAMB emphasized that candidates not disclosed by institutions would not be entertained.

This development comes after the Federal Government set up an Inter-Ministerial Investigative Committee on Degree Certificate Milling to probe the activities of certificate racketeers.*
