So, a pie and a scone are quite different in terms of ingredients and texture:

1. Pie consists of a pastry crust + sweet or savory ingredients (fruits, berries, vegetables, meat)

2. Scone is a type of baked good similar to a biscuit, it’s crumbly and has biscuit-like texture

I was today years old when I learned that “pie” and “scone” are different things!

#grammar_of_the_day: “Hear of” vs. “Hear about” 👂

Ever wonder when to use “hear of” and “hear about”? They sound similar, but each one has a different meaning! 🤔

👉 Hear of – We use this when talking about knowing that something exists:

💬 “Have you heard of that new app everyone’s talking about?”

👉 Hear about – This is used when talking about learning details or information regarding a specific topic:

💬 “Did you hear about the event downtown last weekend?”

⭐️Quick TIP: Think of “hear of” as learning that something exists, and “hear about” as finding out more about it!

This time of year is full of costumes, candy, and some seriously fun expressions! To get you into the spirit, here are some phrases you might hear around Halloween that will make you sound like a true native speaker:

🍬“Trick or treat!” – This is what kids say when they go door-to-door asking for candy.

👻“Spook-tacular!” – A fun twist on “spectacular” to describe anything that’s frightfully fun.

🎃“Bone-chilling” or “Hair-raising” – These phrases describe something so scary it gives you chills!

🧟‍♀️“Ghoul-friend” or “Monster mash” – A fun way to say friend (like "girlfriend" or "boyfriend"), and the "monster mash" is a popular Halloween song, but it can also mean a Halloween-themed party!

👻 “Witching hour” – The time of night when magic and spooky things are said to happen (usually midnight)!

🕸️ “Scaredy-cat” – Someone who gets scared easily.

🎩 “In disguise” – When someone’s dressed up, especially in a costume, you can say they’re “in disguise.” Halloween is all about showing off those amazing disguises!

🎶 “I’m here for the boos!” – A Halloween twist on “I’m here for the booze!” It’s a fun way to say you’re all about the ghostly fun (or maybe just some good old Halloween treats!).

💬 Example: The enchanted forest glowed with mysterious lights as the Halloween moon rose high in the sky.

🌱Origin: From the Latin word "incantare", meaning "to sing or chant a spell."

🎃 "Enchanted" ties in with Halloween’s magical theme, without being too dark or unsettling. It's a great way to introduce a more positive and mystical word!

Meaning: To absorb or take in something fully — it can be information, an experience, or even sunshine!

Example: "I love to sit by the window and soak up the warm autumn sun while reading."

☕️ Autumn Vibes: This season is perfect for soaking up the beauty of changing leaves, crisp air, and cozy moments. 🍂

#word_of_the_day UNWIND is all we need this weekend, isn't it? 🤩

Definition: To relax after a period of stress or work.

Example: "After a busy week, I like to unwind with a good book and a cup of tea."

💡Fun Fact: The word "unwind" originally meant to literally untwist something 🔀, but now it's often used to describe relaxing and letting go of stress 😌
