An order book refers to the total value of orders a company has received from its customers but hasn’t delivered yet. It represents the work a company has lined up for the future and gives investors an idea of its growth potential.
Think of it like this: If a bakery receives 100 cake orders today, its order book is the total revenue it will earn once those cakes are baked and delivered.
Why Does It Matter? 🧾 A strong order book means: 1️⃣ High demand for the company’s products or services. 2️⃣ Predictable revenue in the future. 3️⃣ Confidence in the company’s ability to grow.
Example 🍰: Let’s say an engineering company like L&T secures projects worth ₹10,000 crore. This becomes its order book. If the company completes projects worth ₹2,000 crore in a quarter, the remaining ₹8,000 crore is still in its order book, showing work lined up for the future.
