How can I prepare for the AFMC interview provided I don't have any extra curricular achievements to display, neither I have defence background?
“Be true to your spirit, thats all you need.”
An amazing yet the most basic question. Even i faced the same when i had come for my interview down here but here's where my dad put up this thing in my head.
AFMC is a dream for many and so was for me and i wanted to get in so badly that i wanted everything to fall in place the way they are supposed to be or even better. I had one extra curricular certificate for playing basketball and nothing much. Documentation is quite strict and mind you, given that its in a defence setting, you should never try to fake anything. Just continue even if you don't have any.
Also, i don't come from a defence background but still am here, studying in this prestigious institution. So, it shouldn't deter you from trying to get in or from having good hopes. Having a defence background is nothing but a card that adds a few points while going through the selection procedure.
For the interview, all i can suggest is that be confident and be you, the real you. All truths and no fiddling with the things you aren't supposed to be. They'll ask you questions and you have to answer them honestly. This might be about your family or your habits and hobbies. Its just like a background check but done directly on you not on your back. If you say you can play violin, they'll make you play it there. If you say you are a batsman, they'll give you a bat and ask about a stance. Hence, no faking.
Honestly, my interview was of 5 minutes in which they talked about my native place and about my hobbies. The board is welcoming and creates a friendly environment but you should at all times remember to maintain the decorum too. After all, defence forces are all about discipline. They'll bring out the answers they look for and you won't even notice it. So, my advice would be that you should walk in confident and be honest and be the best of what you can be.
This interview is of 50 points that adds on to your NEET score and further few calculations to select the meritorious ones. Hence its just a part of something bigger.
Therefore, what you really need to worry about right now is to score excellent in the upcoming NEET and have a respectable score and rank.
Just one request, though. The interview will decide your career plans, so be in the best attitude. And the best is to be in formals. Kind of brings out the proffessional vibe and the optimism
