Dear Students,
As we approach the final week before the CAT, I want to share some practical tips and experiences to help you close your preparation in a climactic way and ensure you feel confident on the exam day. This week is crucial, and how you manage it can significantly impact your performance. Hereโs what you should do:
Stay Healthy: First things first, the worst thing to happen to one year of your preparation is your getting sick on or before the day of performance. Whatever you may be scoring, you do not want a suboptimal physical fitness to be the reason for your subpar performance. By all means, get enough sleep, eat homecooked meals (strictly avoid eating out this last week), wear weather-appropriate clothes (to avoid getting under it and catch viral) and stay hydrated. A healthy body supports a sharp mind.
Stay Positive: Maintain a positive mindset. Remind yourself of all the hard work you've put in and visualize yourself performing well on the exam. It is possible that a lot of troubling things (read life) is happening all around in the backdrop of your CAT preparation. Family member falling sick, your boss/work sucking the shit of you, parents pressuring you to get married, or your boyfriends/girlfriends giving you a hard time. Whatever it is, it is not going to get worse just this week. It can wait. Treat this week as a break from everything. The world can manage without you. At the same time, remember not to take CAT as your purpose in life. It is JUST another exam, a means to an end, which by no means is the only means to that end. Read that again. Yes, regress this time! And trust me, I have seen miracles happening on the D-day, such that I never could have imagined myself. It IS possible that your BEST performance comes out on the 24th. That all of it falls into place just that day. That you get your stance statement right, your speed right, your selection right, your POE right, all the I's dotted and all the T's crossed. Jo aaj tak ka hardwork hai vo usi din threshold hit kare, aisa hua hai aur tumhare sath bhi ho sakta hai!!
Revise Strategically: Focus on revising key concepts and formulas. Prioritize topics that you've found challenging in the past and make sure to go through your notes or flashcards. Avoid trying to learn new concepts at this stage. Focus on meaty topics especially in Quants - Arithmetic and Algebra. Forget about what is not there in your ken now.
Practice Mock Tests: Take at least 5 full-length mock tests this week. Simulate exam conditions as closely as possible, including timing and breaks. Analyze your performance afterward to identify areas for improvement. One mock test everyday from now on is a good idea.
Wrap it up by 22nd, not 23rd. I FORBID you as your mentor to do anything on the 23rd. The plan for the 23rd is to go out with friends, play outdoor sports, have a romantic date with your beloved, enjoy with your nephew, niece or your own kids (all dog and cat pops and moms), whatever pleases you, and helps you feel HAPPY and RELAXED.
