Dell Technologies announced the availability of the Dell Connectrix DS-7710B - a high-performance, highly reliable 64 Gb/s entry-level Fibre Channel switch. 
 
Purpose-built for small to mid-sized businesses, the DS-7710B provides low-cost access to 64 Gb/s Fibre Channel technology.  Starting at just eight ports and non-disruptively scaling up to 24 ports on-demand, it provides organizations both high-performance, secure access to industry-leading storage technology.  The DS-7710B includes all enterprise software features in the base product, without any additional costs.

Hitachi Vantara announce the availability of Brocade G710 switch and FOS v9.2.2 on January 15, 2025. The newly launched Brocade G710 Fibre Channel switch offers enterprise-level features at entry-level cost, purpose-built for small to mid-sized businesses. The G710 switch offering aligns to the Hitachi VSP One Block and E Series midrange storage arrays that target price sensitive customers by providing high performance, built‑in security and the ability to scale on demand from 8 to 24 ports to support their growing environments.

New Brocade SAN Security Specialist Exam Available

The Brocade Education team just released the new Brocade SAN Security Specialist exam.  The exam covers eight classes related to Brocade Gen 7 hardware, SANnav v2.4.0 and Fabric OS v9.2.2 security. The classes and exam offer learning opportunities for those interested in advancing in general Fibre Channel and Brocade-specific security topics. The class playlist includes 2 new security courses: Introduction to Secure SANs (SEC-101) and SANnav Management Portal Security Overview (MPSEC-221).

You must complete the eight pre-requisite classes to unlock the exam. Search within the Brocade learning portal for the Brocade SAN Security Specialist playlist to get started. Full exam details will be presented on the next Brocade Education webcast in February 2025.

Charges Filed in License Counterfeiting Case

On September 25th, charges were filed against a third individual involved in an international counterfeiting scheme involving Brocade license keys. Two previously charged individuals have both pleaded guilty, and are awaiting sentencing. The new charges were announced in a press release by the United States Attorney’s Office, District of Minnesota, and references Brocade license keys.

Brocade G620 Switch 16G POD Kits, 250W Power Supply FRUs, and Select Optic FRUs End-of-Availability (EOA) Notice

On August 22, 2024, Brocade announced the End-of-Availability (EOA) of the Brocade G620 Switch 16G Port-on-Demand (“POD”) kits, 250W power supply FRUs, and select optic FRUs. This notice set the Last Time Order date to December 28, 2024 and the Last Customer Ship (LCS) date to February 28, 2025, subject to availability.

While the G620 16G POD kit is going away, the G620 32G POD kits will remain available for sale for a period of two years after the Last Customer Ship (LCS) date for the switch. For connectivity to 4G, the 16G optic part numbers XBR-000192 or XBR-000193 will remain available.
However, for X7 Directors utilizing the FC32-X7-48 blade for connectivity to 4G, please beware that the XBR-000192 or XBR-000193 optic part numbers are not supported with this blade. Therefore any customers who need 4G connectivity for this blade will need to make a last time buy of the XBR-000492 or XBR-000493 during the EOA period, while supplies last.

Selected Brocade® G630 Switch Part Numbers End-of-Availability Notice

Brocade, a Broadcom company, is announcing End-of-Availability (EOA) for the selected Brocade® G630 Switch part numbers and FRUs listed below. The Brocade G630 switch will remain available, and all part numbers affected by this EOA notice have equivalent replacement part numbers that can be ordered.
There is no End-of-Support (EOS) date set for these part numbers. The EOS date will be aligned with the Brocade G630 Switch EOS date, which will be announced in the future. Support for these products will continue to be available for customers with a valid support contract.
The replacement part numbers are all readily available, and all future orders for the Brocade G630 Switch should be placed using the designated replacement part numbers.

Brocade® FC32-48 Port Blade End-of-Availability Notice

Brocade, a Broadcom company, is announcing End-of-Availability (EOA) for the Brocade® FC32-48 Port Blade part numbers listed. The Last Customer Ship (LCS) date will be January 31, 2025, subject to availability.
Support for these products when installed in a supported chassis will continue to be available for customers with a valid support contract, subject to support policies for Brocade products.

Brocade® G620 Switch End-of-Life Notice

Brocade, a Broadcom company, is announcing End-of-Life (EOL) for the Brocade® G620 Switch and its FRUs. The Last Customer Ship (LCS) date for the affected part numbers will be January 26, 2025. Support will continue to be offered and provided for 5 years from the Last Customer Ship (LCS) date for customers with a valid support contract, subject to support policies for Brocade products.
New Brocade Fabric OS ® (FOS) releases will be made available for 2 years from the LCS date for the Brocade G620 Switch for customers with a valid support contract. After FOS End-of-Availability (EOA), the latest supported FOS release available for the product prior to its FOS EOA date will continue to be available for use on the Brocade G620 Switch until End-ofSupport (EOS). Port-on-Demand (POD) and licenses for the Brocade G620 switch will continue to remain available for a period of 2 years from the LCS date listed.
The Brocade G720 Switch is the replacement for the Brocade G620 Switch. The Brocade G720 switch is a modern Gen 7 Fibre Channel switch, and offers superior performance, lower latency, significant security enhancements, and a more advanced feature set, compared to the Brocade G620 switch. This notice is to inform you to make your final purchases of the product subject to EOL and to smoothly transition to the new product.

New SAN Administrator Exam Available:

The Brocade Education team recently published a new version of the SAN Administrator Exam. This new version of the exam includes extensive updates to classes based on Brocade Gen 7 hardware and Fabric OS v9.2.0. This exam track offers learning opportunities for those who have yet to start the exam track process and for those who have already successfully passed the previous SAN Administrator exam.  For those exam takers who want to refresh their status they will only need to take and pass a subset of the overall exam track (i.e. the net new classes). The process to take classes and unlock the exam remains unchanged. Full exam details will be presented on the next Brocade Education webcast in July 23rd at 9:00 AM (PT)
