Dear Minister Yaseen and Alberta Immigration Officers,

I am writing to express my deep frustration and concern regarding the recent handling of the Alberta Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) nominations over the last two months. The current first-come, first-serve system has created significant issues and hardships for many applicants and Regulated Canadian Immigration Consultants, including myself.

In particular, the requirement to have multiple caseworkers available all day to submit applications, which often did not end up being successfully submitted, has resulted in a considerable loss of income. With over 25,000 applicants frantically trying to secure less than 1,000 spots, the system has proven to be both chaotic and inefficient.

To address these issues and improve the process for future applicants, I propose the following solutions:

1. Notification of Interest System: Allow all eligible applicants to submit their profiles into the Alberta PNP pool. This would create a more organized and fair process. This process is being successfully used by
- Alberta for the Express entry stream
- Ontario where they select applicants from their own PNP pool as well as through the express entry pool.
This process will also allow Alberta government to select applicants based on their occupation codes so that Alberta can use the available pool of applicants to solve a specific job market employment gaps.
2. Ranking System: Rank the profiles based on a points system that considers following factors
- Age
- Education in Alberta or Canada (Higher points for Alberta education)
- Work experience (Higher points for Alberta work experience)
- Language abilities
- Other ties to Alberta, like siblings in Alberta

3. Random Draw: Select the required number of applicants from the top 30-40% of the pool through a random draw. This ensures that high-scoring applicants have a fair chance while maintaining transparency and fairness.

4. Make pool scores public: Make the number of applicants in the pool and their respective scores public, similar to the Express Entry system. This transparency would allow applicants to understand their chances of selection and plan their PR pathway accordingly. For the applicants, who are not able to acquire the necessary course, they will easily be able to understand the deficiencies, plan for increasing their scores or figure out alternate pathways in Alberta or other provinces for their permanent residency.

5. Abolish LMIA Requirement: Eliminate the requirement of having a Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) to be eligible for the Alberta PNP. Additionally, no points should be allocated for having an LMIA to prevent the exploitation of foreign workers. This change would stop employers or consultants from charging vulnerable foreign workers for providing an LMIA.

Furthermore, there have been reports of individuals attempting to sell spots in the waiting line for Alberta PNP nominations for $400-$2000. This exploitation preys on desperate applicants, such as those with expiring work permits, who might feel compelled to pay these scammers to have a chance at submitting their application.

I humbly request that these suggestions be considered urgently, based on feedback from the RCIC community and the extreme anxiety and frustration experienced by applicants in recent months. Implementing these changes would not only improve the system but also restore faith in Alberta’s commitment to fair and transparent immigration processes.

🍁June 07: Keeping you informed: Canada immigration update!

🔹Manitoba held invitation rounds under the MPNP:-

On June 6, 2024, Manitoba held a new invitation round #220 in the MPNP.

In the Skilled Worker in Manitoba stream, the MPNP invited 135 candidates with a minimum score of 834.

In the Skilled Workers Overseas stream, MPNP issued 45 LAAs to candidates invited under the Strategic Recruitment Initiative.

The lowest score in the SWO category was 708 points.

Finally, 74 invitations were issued in the International Education Stream.

In this round, Manitoba has issued LAAs to 254 candidates, including 35 Express Entry candidates.

In 2024, MPNP invited 4,495 candidates, and 608 of them received invitations in the Express Entry.


🔹ESDC published new LMIA processing times:-


• Global Talent Stream - 7 business days
• Agricultural stream - 17 business days (+4 days)
• Seasonal Agricultural Worker Program - 8 business days (-2 days)
• Permanent residence Stream - 81 business days (+1 day)
• High-wage Stream - 43 business days
• Low-wage Stream - 50 business days (+4 days)


🔹IRCC updated the income requirement for Canada Super Visas:-

On June 3, 2024, IRCC updated the minimum income requirement for the Canada Super Visa.

This year, the requirement has increased by approximately 6.8%, a notable jump from last year's 3.33% increase.

The Super Visa allows parents or grandparents of Canadian citizens or permanent residents to stay in Canada for up to 5 years, with a potential two-year extension.

The new annual gross income requirements vary depending on the family unit size.

For example, a single-person family unit now needs a minimum gross income of $29,380, a rise from $27,514 in 2023.
