g (1 day):
I hope you have prepared a bit on solving puzzles but even if you have not, need not worry because when it comes to Mains exam, puzzles are very tricky. So, attempt critical reasoning questions, watch my videos and then spend 8 hours more on CAT CR questions, get Puzzle practice content (you can ping me personally for mains level content). So, in the final paper, you should first focus on these questions and then in the remaining 40 minutes, you can do puzzles and other questions. Aim for one mark puzzle-questions, they tend to be easy.
General/banking Awareness (7 days):
This is the most scoring section but one of the trickiest as well. People don’t know what to study and how to study, but I am going to try and tell you exactly how to deal with this section.
- You have to remember the GDP forecast of the current and the next fiscal year by all the popular rating agencies. WB, IMF, Fitch, RBI, etc. Write them in a tabular format on a paper in increasing/decreasing order to make it easier for you to remember. This should fetch you one mark. (1 hour)
- Financial Budget (5–6 hours), there is videos with 50 questions on budget. Do that, should be enough. One more mark in your pocket.
- Cabinet Ministers (2–3 hours), just do cabinet ministers and Ministers of State with Independent Charge..
- Use Capsule content for static banking part only (1 day). Don’t even try to remember the dams and national park locations. Utter waste of time. If it comes, you can leave the question. You will get around 8–10 marks from this static banking part.
- AffairsCloud monthly/weekly PDFs (6 days, 2 days for each month), I recommend only the monthly or weekly PDF because there are clear headings of different sections. You have to do everything, but Banking & Finance sections should be by-hearted. Other important sections are (in decreasing order): Important Days, Books & Authors, Summits & Conferences, Foreign Visits (Currency, capital, PM/President of that country), Banking Appointments, Sports, Schemes, Indian Affairs, Awards & Recognition.
English (0 days):
I hope that you are pretty good in English, not only with respect to grammar, but also with respect to vocabulary needed for the exam. As was evident from the preliminary examination, English in Mains is going to be a tough nut to crack. But we don’t just need passing marks, do we? We need to score well above the cutoff. Keep calm while reading instructions for English section, and answer accordingly.
Mocks (8–10):
You should give one mock before you start preparing anything. Just to see where you stand. Then try to study section-wise in any order and then give mocks. However, if you are too bored with a section, you can give a mock to do somthing different. Giving mocks after preparation is the way to go.
Remember, mocks are the only source for you to work upon your English if you are following rules. So, try to be very calm when you are solving English section. Just solving mocks won’t serve any purpose. 3 hours mock should be followed by 3–4 hour Analysis and even seeing the solution of the questions that you couldn’t answer. I followed “one mock-analysis-another mock” schedule with the analysis of the second mock on the next day. So effectively, I was solving three mocks in 2 days.
Also, take sectional tests of Banking Awareness and Current Affairs as well to try and remember as much as you can with the help of these tests.
If you do all this, spend good numbers of hour a day seriously for the next 18–19 days, you will be sure to clear Mains with flying colors. Good luck.
Hard work may not always result in success, but it will never result in regret.
