Tortured Ukrainian prisoners of war: one of the leaders of the Russian prison received suspicion in absentia

Alexey Khavetsky is the deputy head of “correctional colony No. 7” in the Vladimir region. From at least the end of May 2023 to February 2024, he personally participated in the torture of Ukrainian prisoners of war.

They used electric shocks against our soldiers, set guard dogs on them, and kept them without warm clothes in frozen cells. The Defenders were also regularly beaten, leaving them without food, water or medical care.

In this way, the Russians tried to “extort” confessions from Ukrainian soldiers on pre-fabricated cases. Based on the evidence collected, SBU investigators informed Khavetsky in absentia of suspicion.

In Yakutia, Russia, people were left without heating in 50-degree frost due to a communal accident.

In Zhigansk on the night of January 1, the boiler house stopped working. The temperature dropped to 5-7 degrees Celsius in some apartments. The situation is especially difficult in dilapidated houses – radiators started to burst there. Residents have to wear winter clothes and shoes at home, and the stores have already sold out heaters and blankets.

Only five of the eight boilers in the boiler house are operating, the rest are trying to be repaired. At the same time, in order to avoid overloading the power grid, the street lights are turned off.

Residents asked the minister of housing and utilities of Yakutia to come to Zhigansk, declare a state of emergency and help with the purchase of new boilers and spare parts.

Margarita Nifontova, assistant state counselor of Yakutia, drew attention to the chronic underfunding of the region's housing and utilities sector, which exceeds 27 billion rubles ($249 382 909,85) for 2025.

"There is no need for war, we'll freeze to death here," Nifontova wrote.

😢 A 14-year-old Ukrainian boy was hit at a pedestrian crossing in Warsaw: he died in the hospital

The first aid to the victim was provided by a passer-by, a military serviceman. The boy was hospitalized, but due to serious injuries, it was not possible to save him.

The minibus driver fled the scene. As it turned out, he had a previous criminal record and did not have a valid license at the time of the accident.

According to Piotr Skiba, the spokesman of the Warsaw District Prosecutor's Office, the suspect is a Polish citizen. After the collision, he hid the vehicle on the outskirts of the city, where he later consumed alcohol. The 43-year-old driver was detained the next day.

Kursk could be the beginning of the end for Putin in 2025 as it was for Hitler in 1943 — The Telegraph

Putin has said that by Christmas he will return the "sacred" Russian land in Kursk, which Ukrainian forces spectacularly captured last summer; but it looks like another blow to the dictatorship.

Putin may well be in survival mode after the events in Syria, the elimination of his right-hand man, General Kirilov, and Ukraine's decision to close Russia's last gas route to Europe.

Andrii Biletskyi, commander of the Third Assault Brigade, emphasized in an interview with Nataliya Moseichuk that servicemen have a full moral right to be in power after the end of the war. According to him, the actions of the military during the most difficult moments in the history of Ukraine are the main criterion for evaluating future politicians.

"Everyone will say on the Maidan, outside the Maidan: ``I am ready for anything for the sake of the country.'' A military man is a person who has left his family, gets injured, is cold as a dog, does not get enough sleep, risks his life every day, pulls for others. He has already proven that these are not empty words for him," says Biletskyi.

Kombrig emphasized that the main criterion for evaluating future politicians should be their actions at the most critical moment of the state's existence. "Some did everything for Ukraine to survive, others did nothing. It applies to everyone," he added.

Now the brigadier sees his place in the army, where he continues the fight for Ukraine together with his comrades: "I am in my place, I feel people's trust and I see the results of our work."

President Zelenskyy made a very fair point: Americans still don't understand who Putin really is. They form their opinion of him based on their own values. Putin is a person who lives in the system of primitive societies, a tribe, not a developed civilization.

He needs technology to kill, not to fly to Mars.

Up to 90% of the birds rescued in Anapa after the Kerch Strait oil spill died during transport, according to Russian Telegram channels.

Some deaths were attributed to rough handling of boxes during transfer between trucks, but the main cause was the premature release of the birds by regional Ministry of Natural Resources employees. Ignoring the need for rehabilitation and the continued mazut pollution of their habitat, they attempted to return the birds to the wild.

Volunteers later found dozens of dead birds along the Anapa coast.

Two Ukrainian Defenders captured 14 Russian soldiers.

Golubev Vladislav Vyacheslavovich, born August 16, 1970, from Novosibirsk, 91st Separate Rifle Regiment, was the first to lay down his weapon. He was captured in the Kurakhove direction near Novoukrainka, Zelenivka, and Sukhi Yaly. Alongside him, several soldiers from the 91st, 14th, and 36th brigades of the Russian Armed Forces also surrendered.

Interestingly, Vladislav, a Russian citizen, had lived in Ternopil until 2016. He was married to a Ukrainian woman and had a daughter. However, the propaganda that flooded Russian media forced him to abandon his wife and daughter, sever all contact, and erase them from his life.

New Year’s greetings from Ukrainian volunteer Hollandets (Dutchman).

Hollandets, or Denys Khrystov worked successfully as a TV presenter on Ukrainian entertainment and music channel M1. But once the war started, he became a volunteer. He began delivering food, water and humanitarian aid to the frontlines, but saw that there was another crucial need – evacuation of civilians.

Hollandets has been to the hottest spots on the frontlines – including Bakhmut, Orikhiv, Marinka, and Selydove – and documented his experiences in organizing safe passage for local residents on social media. He recently released a short documentary 1% of War, where he shows the tough everyday realities of the Russian invasion, and its impact on the lives of ordinary Ukrainians.

The situation with the lack of gas in Transnistria is already showing signs of a humanitarian catastrophe

🍞The bakery plant in the city of Rybnitsa in the unrecognized republic ceased its work due to the cessation of gas supplies. The factory produced about 2 tons of bread per day.

According to the director, the company has 64 employees, but now only drivers, storekeepers and security guards work. Other employees are on vacation for now, and salaries will be paid in the amount of two-thirds.

🚳 He also went to the simple Moldavian Metallurgical Plant (MMZ). Management is already warning that after such events it will be extremely difficult to start the enterprise, almost impossible in the short term.

ℹ️ In addition, in Transnistria the duration of rolling power outages is increasing to four hours a day.

🐽🇷🇸Serbian mercenary Bratislav Zivkovic, who fought against Ukraine since 2014, was liquidated in the Kursk region - media

The ten-year saga of Serbian action hero Bratislav Zivkovic has come to a logical conclusion. For many years, this character tried to play the role of defender of the “Russian world,” but in the end he became just another note in the section on losses.

Zhivkovic led the assault company of the 150th regiment of the Russian Army, and his bloody tourism to Ukraine began in 2014. This fanatic of Serbian nationalism managed to become famous as the commander of the paramilitary Chetnik group, a gang known for its chauvinistic hatred.

In 2017, Zivkovic was declared persona non grata in Romania due to spying for the Kremlin. Ukraine, however, did not ignore it. A criminal case was opened against Zhivkovic for recruiting mercenaries for the war against Ukraine.

He thought he was tenacious and invulnerable. Fate hinted otherwise to him on December 16, 2024, when an FPV drone struck the first blow, from which the Serbian militant miraculously escaped. However, on January 2, 2025, the guest performer finally resigned his powers into a plastic bag.

Zivkovic no longer lives up to his last name.
