The SVAMITVA Scheme (Survey of Villages and Mapping with Improvised Technology in Village Areas) was launched by the Government of India in 2020. It aims to provide rural landowners with property cards by using drone technology for mapping. This initiative helps in reducing property disputes and enables better planning in villages. The scheme empowers rural citizens by giving them ownership rights, which can be used for financial and legal purposes.

Statement I: It is not possible to cut a rectangle into exactly 4 square sheets. But the 4 squares don't have to be equal in area. So, we can have 4 squares - 8x8, 8x8, 4x4, 4x4
Statement II: Now we know that by merging two equal area congruent triangles we can form a rectangle. So, we have 5 equal sized rectangles instead of 10 triangles. We can easily cut 1 rectangle into 5 equal sized rectangles.
Hence, both statements 1 and 2 are correct.

Since there are only two candidates, if X got 56%, Y got 44%. Difference is of 12%.
Now, Difference is given as 1440 (12% of votes casted). Therefore, total casted votes = 12000

Now, only 80% voted, so total voters = 12000/.80 = 15000

๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ณ The Impact of the Weakening Indian Rupee ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ณ

The sharp depreciation of the Indian rupee in recent months has raised important questions about the future of India's exchange rate policy. What caused this sudden shift, and what does it mean for the broader economy?

๐Ÿง Understanding the Devaluation

The Indian rupee has faced a significant devaluation against the US dollar, despite holding relatively stable for the past few years. This sharp depreciation can be attributed to a mix of factors:

Capital Outflows: There has been increased outflow of capital, signaling less foreign investment.
Higher Import Costs: Rising crude oil prices and other import-related expenses have put additional pressure on the rupee.
RBI Policy Shift: The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has moved back to a managed-float exchange rate regime, adjusting the rupee to address these economic pressures.

๐Ÿ”„ Exchange Rate Dynamics
The nominal exchange rate is the value of the rupee relative to other currencies, while the real exchange rate reflects the price of domestic goods compared to foreign goods. In theory, a cheaper rupee (nominal depreciation) could make Indian exports more competitive by making domestic goods cheaper abroad. However, rising domestic inflation has complicated this effect, as real exchange rates have remained high despite the weakening currency.

๐Ÿ“‰ Impact on Exports and Imports
The weakening rupee could boost exports if the real exchange rate also falls, making Indian goods more attractive on the global market. However, domestic price inflationโ€”driven in part by higher import costsโ€”limits this potential benefit.

๐Ÿ“ˆ Rising Costs of Living
As the rupee weakens, the cost of imports (from raw materials to oil) increases, which leads to higher production costs for Indian firms. These higher costs are often passed on to consumers in the form of rising prices, putting further strain on household budgets.

๐Ÿ“Š The Structural Issue
One of the key challenges India faces today is the divergence between the nominal exchange rate and the real exchange rate. Despite the rupee's depreciation, the real exchange rate has appreciated since 2019, indicating that domestic prices are rising faster than the nominal depreciation would suggest. This discrepancy limits the effectiveness of the rupee's weakness in boosting exports.

๐Ÿ’ก Policy Dilemmas for the RBI
The RBI's recent strategy has seemed inconsistent, with frequent shifts in policy without clear rationale. The key questions are:
Should India return to the exchange rate strategy of the 2010s?
Is there a need for a new, clearer exchange rate policy framework?
What should the RBI aim to achieve with its exchange rate policy moving forward?

๐Ÿ”ฎ Looking Ahead
The RBI's policy will be crucial in managing the balance of payments, inflation, and export competitiveness. A more systematic approach to exchange rate policy is needed, one that addresses the challenges of a depreciating rupee in a high-inflation environment.

Indian Rupee Hits Record Low of โ‚น86 Against the US Dollar

The Indian Rupee's depreciation to โ‚น86 against the US Dollar has wide-ranging impacts on the economy:

Impact on Imports and Inflation:
- Increased import costs due to Indiaโ€™s reliance on imports for goods and services, particularly oil, machinery, and electronics. This leads to higher fuel prices and inflation, which directly increases the cost of living for Indian households.

Impact on Exports and Competitiveness:
- A weaker rupee enhances the competitiveness of Indian exports like textiles, pharmaceuticals, and IT services. This provides a boost, with exports reaching $670 billion in FY 2023, partly driven by favorable exchange rates.

Impact on Foreign Debt and Financial Markets:
- The depreciation increases the cost of servicing foreign debt, as Indiaโ€™s external debt stood at $620 billion in 2022. Additionally, FDI and portfolio investments could decline due to uncertainty and currency volatility.

Impact on Indian Households:
- Indian households face higher costs for imported goods such as electronics and fuel. Travel and education expenses abroad also rise due to a weaker rupee.

Monetary and Fiscal Policy Challenges:
- The RBI may intervene in forex markets or raise interest rates to curb inflation and stabilize the rupee.

Long-Term Structural Impacts:
- Inflation and higher import costs could affect long-term growth. India needs structural reforms like reducing dependency on imports and boosting exports to mitigate the adverse effects of a weak currency.

Zero is there when we have 2 x 5. This creates 10 and as many pairs of 2 x 5 are there we will have same number of zeros at the end. Now, there are 10 twos in the series as there are 10 even numbers from 1 to 20. So, we need to check the number of fives. We have fives at 5, 10 (5 x 2), 15 (5 x 3) and 20 (5 x 2 x 2). So, the number of zeros at the end will be 4.

โ€ข Among skilled workers, 80% are permanent, so 20% are temporary.
โ€ข Among unskilled workers, 20% are permanent, so 80% are temporary.

Now, let's calculate the number of temporary workers:
โ€ข For skilled workers, 20% are temporary, which is (20/100) * (75% of the total workers) = (1/5) * (75/100) * Total workers = (3/20) * Total workers.
โ€ข For unskilled workers, 80% are temporary, which is (80/100) * (25% of the total workers) = (4/5) * (25/100) * Total workers = (1/5) * Total workers.

So, the total number of temporary workers is (3/20 + 1/5) * Total workers = (15/100 + 20/100) * Total workers = (35/100) * Total workers = (7/20) * Total workers.

Now, we know that the number of temporary workers is 126, so we can set up the equation:
(7/20) * Total workers = 126

To solve for Total workers, multiply both sides by (20/7):
Total workers = (126 * 20) / 7 Total workers = 360
So, the number of total workers in the company is 360.
Therefore, the answer is (b) 360.

Statement 1 is correct:
The government of India enacted "The Protection of Plant Varieties and Farmers' Rights (PPV&FR) Act, 2001," to establish a sui generis system. Indian legislation to conform with the International Union for the Protection of New Varieties of Plants (UPOV) 1978, it also includes adequate provisions to protect the interests of public sector breeding institutions and farmers.

The legislation acknowledges the contributions of both commercial plant breeders and farmers to plant breeding activity, and it also mandates that it must be implemented in a way that supports the socioeconomic interests of all stakeholders, including the private, public, and research sectors, as well as resource-constrained farmers.

Statement 2 is incorrect:
Breeders have the exclusive right to produce, sell, market, distribute, import, and export the protected variety. Breeders can appoint agents/licensees and seek civil remedies in the event of violation of rights. The Act allows researchers to conduct experiments or research with any of the registered varieties. This includes using a variety as an initial source of variety to develop another variety, but it requires the registered breeder's prior permission.

Statement 3 is incorrect:
A variety is eligible for registration under the Act if it essentially meets the Distinctiveness, Uniformity, and Stability (DUS) requirements. The Central Government issues notifications in official Gazettes specifying the genera and species for variety registration.

Statement 1 is correct:
When the Indian Constitution was adopted in 1950, the right to property was declared a fundamental right under Articles 31 and 19(1)(f). In 1978, the 44th amendment to the Constitution led to the repeal of Articles 31 and 19(1)(f) and the introduction of Article 300A.
Article 300A states, "No person shall be deprived of his property except by authority of law." This means that the government cannot arbitrarily deprive someone of their property without a valid legal basis. As a result, the 'right to property' is now classified as a constitutional right, which means it is legally protected but not as fundamental as the Right to Freedom or the Right to Equality.

Statement 2 is incorrect:
The government can acquire property under Article 300A, but it must be done in accordance with the law. The process of property acquisition is governed by a number of laws, including the Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation, and Resettlement Act (2013), which requires the government to follow due process, provide fair compensation, and adhere to prescribed procedures when acquiring property for public use.
Article 300A protects property from arbitrary deprivation, however, it does not prevent the government from exercising its acquisition powers as long as it adheres to legal standards.

Statement 3 is incorrect:
In the Jilubhai Nanbhai Khachar v/s State of Gujarat (1994) case, the Supreme Court ruled that "the right to property under Article 300A is not a basic structure of the Constitution." It is only a constitutional right."

Statement 1 is correct. Soft X-rays have lower energy & longer wavelengths. These range from 0.1 to 10 nanometers. Hard X-rays have shorter wavelengths & higher energy. This allows them to penetrate denser materialsโ€‹.

Statement 2 is incorrect. Hard X-rays are used in applications requiring deeper imaging, like in industrial inspections and crystallography. In medical imaging, soft X-rays are preferred to avoid over-penetration & reduce radiation exposure. Soft X-rays are optimal for imaging structures like bones & soft tissues in medical diagnostics, while higher-energy X-rays (closer to "hard" on the spectrum) may be used for dense tissuesโ€‹.

Statement 3 is correct. Soft X-rays are valuable in imaging applications that require high resolution at lower penetration depths, making them suitable for biological and soft tissue imaging, as seen in certain microscopy techniques like soft X-ray tomography, which is used to observe cellular structuresโ€‹.

Statement 1 is incorrect. While the volume of the object and the density of the fluid influence the buoyant force, the density of the object itself also plays a crucial role in determining whether it will float or sink. The buoyant force is proportional to the volume of fluid displaced by the object, which depends on the objectโ€™s shape and its density relative to the fluidโ€‹.

Statement 2 is correct. Archimedes' Principle states that the buoyant force on an object is equal to the weight of the fluid displaced by the object. This principle is fundamental in determining whether an object will float or sink. If an object displaces a volume of fluid whose weight is equal to or greater than the object's own weight, it will experience an upward buoyant force that can support it against gravityโ€‹.

Statement 3 is incorrect. For an object to float, the buoyant force must be equal to or greater than its weight. If the buoyant force is less than the object's weight, the object will sink. Floating occurs when the buoyant force precisely balances the gravitational force acting on the objectโ€‹.
