Updated payment schedule for applicable young couples applying from June 2024 onwards

Just in: Young couples who are students or NSFs can apply for new flats with lower initial downpayment from June 2024.

Applicable couples will only need to pay 2.5% from the initial 5%.

The remaining 2.5% difference will be paid at key collection date — increase from 15% to 17.5% (for HDB Loan)

Tips before applying this BTO season

1 - Ensure you have your HFE Letter ready!
If you have not received approval from HDB, drop them a message here OR drop them a call at 1800-225-5432 (1800-CALL-HDB).

They will probably be flooded with calls, do look at their FAQ's first

2 - Pick a flat size that suits your needs!

• Do we intend to have kids? Will our parents stay with us?
• What do we intend to utilise the space for? Other than living? (This can perhaps give you a better idea between 4 and 5 room flat)

3 - Decide on the location! Some considerations:

• Applying with MCPS? Pick a flat within 4 km radium of either parents home
• What sector of work are we doing in the future? Where are there’s offices/ workplaces clustered at? (Eg. Finance couples might want to consider houses around kallang/ whampoa as it is closer to CBD)
• Do the amenities around the flat fit our needs? (Eg. You might be sporty and would like to have a CC near you)

4 - Calculate your projected salaries

• Future proof yourself by considering your monthly expenditure + loan repayment
• Also keep in mind that your 1st downpayment will be paid within 1 year of application, do you have the fund set aside? If not, it might be better to either, (1) save and skip this sales launch or (2) consider a property within your budget
