Backtest- Backtesting just got better! Now, the “Re-entry on Re-cost” feature works based on candle close during backtest.

For Live/Forward Testing:

-If you select Candle Close in the execution settings, the re-entry will be based on candle close, just like in backtesting.

-If you select LTP (Last Traded Price) in the execution settings, it will continue to work based on LTP.

For consistency between backtesting and live trading, we recommend using Candle Close in execution settings. Please update your strategy execution settings accordingly

Earlier When lot size was 10 : If you had set 1000 Rupees overall stoploss when the lot size was 10.

Now lot size is20 : Now lot size has changed from 10 to 20 So, you need to change your overall stop loss from 1000 Rupees to 2000 Rupees.

Update: DTE Filter in Backtest

We have updated the DTE (Days to Expiry) filter in the backtest to align with the recent changes in the Sensex expiry Day.

What's Changed?

Previously, the DTE filter included weekends and trading holidays in its calculation. With this update, the DTE filter will now count only trading days—excluding Saturdays, Sundays, and market holidays.

This change ensures the DTE filter remains relevant and accurate for the current trading scenario.

Starting tomorrow, the Nifty lot size will change as follows:

1. Weekly contracts: Lot size will increase from 25 to 75.
2. Monthly contracts(29 jan expiry): Lot size will remain 25 for the current month.

Important Changes in Strategies

Earlier When lot size was 25: If you had set 1000 Rupees overall stoploss when the lot size was 25

Now lot size is 75: Now lot size has changed from 25 to 75 So, you need to change your overall stop loss from 1000 Rupees to 3000 Rupees.

🚨Kotak- Issue with Limit Order Rejections and Duplicate Order Placement 🚨

We would like to bring to your attention an issue encountered with Kotak's system. In a recent scenario, We got to know that while placing an limit order Kotak throws a service error. As a result, we attempted to execute these orders via market orders. However, it was later discovered that the original limit orders were not actually cancelled and remained pending in the broker terminal and Kotak has given us wrong info that limit order got rejected. This led to the placement of duplicate orders, resulting in a discrepancy in the PnL between Algotest and Kotak.

It is a issue from Kotak side and this issue has been reported to kotak multiple times over the past two months. Their team is ultra irresponsible and doesn't reply back for weeks, and when they do they say that this has been resolved but these instances keep on arising at times. The kotak team knows about this issue.

From our side, the best we can do is suggest user to work with trading APIs that are reliable.

🚨BTST/Positional Bug🚨

The quantity multiplier in Execution settings is not working as expected.

Although the lots are multiplied but the Overall settings are NOT being multiplied.

The issue is being fixed by us. Please make the following changes:

1. Make changes inside the strategy and multiply the lots and the overall settings inside the strategy itself.

2. If you have a running strategy where you are using BOTH qty multiplier (from execution settings) AND Overall settings then, your overall settings will not be multiplied and you’ll have to close the strategy.
