Federal Skilled Worker Update:
Canada has issued more Invitations from Provinces and Federal when compared to last year.
IRCC (Immigration Refugee & Citizenship Canada) has so far conducted 13 draws in the year 2019 and issued 42,050 ITA’s. Lowest CRS which received ITA was “438”.

Provincial Nominee Program Approval:
Ontario, Alberta, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, Saskatchewan, Manitoba – all this provinces have given notifications to people whose CRS Score is less than 300 in the year 2019.

Ontario has released new details of proposed changes to a number of key Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program streams.

The changes touch on existing Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) streams and do not detail the new stream for foreign tech workers or the new smaller communities pilot announced in the province’s 2019 budget last week.

Two changes highlighted in the budget that are detailed are proposed reductions to the minimum investment and net worth thresholds for the OINP’s Entrepreneur Stream and the addition of new occupations to the seven that are currently eligible under the Employer Job Offer: In-Demand Skills Stream.

Ontario is also proposing the termination of its Corporate Stream and minor updates to eligibility requirements for some of the OINP’s more popular immigration pathways, including its Express Entry-linked Human Capital Priorities, French-Speaking Skilled Worker and Skilled Trades streams.

Among other goals, the OINP said the proposed changes are meant “to improve the responsiveness of the OINP to current labour market and employer needs, including supporting regions that do not traditionally see significant levels of immigration.”

All proposed changes would only go into effect after a 45-day public consultation period that ends May 30, 2019.

The Government of Canada held its second Express Entry draw of 2019 on Wednesday, January 23, issuing 3,900 invitations to apply for Canadian permanent residence to candidates with ranking scores as low as 443.

The Government of Canada has introduced a slight increase to its settlement funds requirement and is urging Express Entry candidates to ensure their profiles reflect the change. The increase raises the required minimum settlement funds by just over 1.5 per cent for each family level.

For a single person arriving unaccompanied in Canada, this translates to an increase from $12,474 to $12,669.

All Federal Skilled Worker Class and the Federal Skilled Trades Class candidates must show proof of funds, which are required to ensure the principal applicant and her/his accompanying family members have the means to support themselves financially upon landing in Canada as permanent residents.

Canadian Experience Class candidates who are working in Canada on an eligible work permit are exempt from having to prove they have the minimum settlement funds.

However, Canadian Experience Class candidates invited to apply for Canadian permanent residence through the Federal Skilled Worker Class will have to show proof of funds.

Prince Edward Island’s provincial nominee program held its first draw of 2019 on January 17, issuing 91 invitations to immigration candidates through its Express Entry, Labour Impact and Business Impact categories.

Known as the PEI PNP, the program allows the island province to nominate a set number of economic immigration candidates each year for permanent residence.

A total of 91 invitations were issued in the January 17 draw, including 61 through the PEI PNP’s Express Entry and Labour Impact categories.

PEI’s Express Entry stream is linked to the Government of Canada’s Express Entry system, which manages the pool of candidates for three of Canada’s federal economic immigration programs.

Alberta has released the first details of draws conducted through its Express Entry-linked stream since its introduction in June.

A total of seven draws have been held since then, with the first and largest issuing 155 Notifications of Interest (NOIs) on July 6 to Express Entry candidates with Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) scores as low as 302.

The Alberta Express Entry Stream allows the Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (AINP) to search the federal Express Entry system for candidates who meet the stream’s eligibility requirements and invite them to apply for a provincial nomination for permanent residence.
