Weiss contributor Marija Matic has conducted an analysis of Trump’s World Liberty Financial (WLF) project, highlighting several key points:

1 - $WLFI tokens, currently offered in a public sale, are non-transferable and non-sellable for a minimum of 12 months, potentially indefinitely. Their primary utility lies in providing voting rights, as holders are unable to profit from trading or selling these tokens.

2 - Furthermore, the Trump and Witkoff families, along with co-founders Herro and Folkman, will receive 100% of the protocol’s revenue, with no contractual obligations to share it. However, they have proposed sharing 20% of the protocol fees generated through Aave with AaveDAO.

3 - Although $WLFI tokens provide voting rights, their impact on decision-making may be constrained by the centralized entity's ability to reject community proposals. As a result, these tokens may end up serving as indicators of community sentiment rather than offering true decentralized voting power.

4 - The limited utility of $WLFI tokens, coupled with the project's predominantly centralized structure, elevated valuation, and restrictions on non-accredited U.S. investors, has likely led to lower sales volume. To date, less than 1% of the total supply has been sold, generating approximately $13 million.

5 - As of now, about 12,000 of the 100,000 registered individuals have purchased the $WLFI token, with a modest 16% increase in holders since yesterday. Given the ongoing fundraising pace, reaching the target of $300 million at a $1.5 billion valuation during the initial sale seems challenging.

6 - If U.S. regulators adopt a more favorable stance on utility tokens in the future, similar projects could capture a larger and more diverse investor base.
