The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has revealed plans to conduct the private West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) twice annually, starting from 2025.

This significant development aims to provide more opportunities for candidates who may have missed the regular examination or require re-sits.

In general, there are three mandatory requirements for receiving a scholarship. One should have good bachelor’s degree (Second class upper and above), in most cases minimum 2 years of work experience and the bachelor’s degree must have been obtained within the last six years.

There are currently two different scholarship programmes for Ghanaian applicants:
The EPOS scholarship programme for development-related postgraduate courses (37 courses in all). The deadline for application is mid of October in most cases. There is also the Helmut-Schmidt-Programme for Public Policy and Good Governance which includes a few selected universities and masters programmes which focus on social & political science, law, economics, public policy and administration. The application period start in June, the deadline is end of July. For both of these scholarships, one usually applies for the preferred programme and then applies for the scholarship by following the link on the school website to fill in the DAAD scholarship form. Applications are always made for the following year’s intake.
