" In a 2021 Washoe County District Court application for a protection order against Briggs, a woman wrote: “During our relationship, he has threatened me multiple times. He said he would burn the whole city down before the cops took him again. He was going to take me as hostage; if he went down, I was going down with him.”

She said he repeatedly sexually assaulted her, hid guns in a crawlspace and told her he'd killed many people while in the military.

“He has access to five guns. He walks around pretending to shoot things,” she wrote, adding that he told her, “if I called the cops, I would be dead before they arrived.”

Her request for a protection order was denied. The reason given was that the woman had not been subjected to “recent acts of domestic violence.”
