The strongest tremor in the ongoing earthquake swarm at the Dodecanese Islands occurred this afternoon. It was reportedly felt by over 90 people in the region. History tells us that the region can experience a magnitude 6 or larger earthquake. But it is not clear if such a threat is imminent. In any case, be on extra alert in the region, just in case.

An earthquake swarm is ongoing at the Dodecanese Islands, Greece. More than 70 tremors with magnitude 3 and larger occurred in the last few days. Strongest shake so far measured M 4.8 this morning. In 1956 a M 7.5 earthquake occurred at the island Thira (Santorini).

We're working on the next video, which takes a bit longer as there's a lot to discuss in the next time-frame. The last week of January may prove very critical. Keep in mind that it's been two years since the last M 7.8+ and three and a half years since the last M 8.0+ earthquake, while on average they occur about twice and once a year respectively. We're definitely due for the next one.

An earthquake swarm started in Ethiopia on 21 December and is still ongoing. Tremors (thus far 41) are mostly in the higher M 4 range, but peaked M 5.1 on the 29th. East Africa is not exempt from major earthquakes. South Sudan had two M 7 earthquakes in 1990.

There were not many atmospheric anomalies in the last two weeks, but of those the region near today's M 7.0 earthquake was marked 15 days earlier, on 20 November. Too long in my opinion and hardly actionable, but still.
The situation with Earth between Venus and Mars remains critical and the number of M 7+ earthquakes is still well below average. We're almost 2 years without a M 7.8+ and 3.5 years without M 8+. So we know some regions on the planet are probably near the tipping point of a big one. Please keep this in mind.
