Gold hits new all-time high after ECB cuts rates

Precious metals rose on Thursday, with gold hitting a fresh all-time high, after the European Central Bank (ECB) cut rates by another 25 basis points.

The gold rally was also fueled by expectations that the United States Federal Reserve will follow suit and lower rates for the first time since 2020 at its September meeting next week.

The yellow metal rose 0.93% to 2,535.15 per ounce at 8:46 am ET. Spot silver rallied 1.46% to $29.10 per ounce at 8:51 am ET, palladium climbed 1.84% to $1,020.97 per ounce and platinum added 1.04% to sell for $966.02 per ounce at the same time.
