USE YOUR IDENTITY

“And the multitude rose up together against them: and the magistrates rent off their clothes, and commanded to beat them.” (Acts 16: 22)

That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.

In our Focal Scripture, the multitude joined the magistrates to beat Paul and Silas. Several stripes were laid on them, after which they were thrown into prison. In subsequent verses, Paul protested against the idea of being released privately, having been humiliated as a Roman citizen. He never mentioned his Roman citizenship when he was first apprehended, but he mentioned it after being brutalized. He suffered for not using his identity.

Friend, when the vicissitudes of life come against you, remember to confront them with your identity in Christ. Use your identity in Christ to stand against every arrangement of hell against you. Use your identity in Christ to confront the wiles of the enemy. Use your identity in Christ to reject everything that is not of God that the enemy has thrown at you. Use your identity in Christ to win the battles against your destiny.

The magistrates who ordered the beating on Paul and Silas were afraid when they eventually found out that they were Roman citizens, who should ordinarily not be touched. So, they would have avoided Paul and Silas if they disclosed their identity early enough. Sometimes, the enemy is only taking advantage of your ignorance of your identity in Christ.

Remind yourself of your identity in Christ. You have been ransomed by the blood of Jesus. You are risen with Christ. You are engraved in the palm of His hands. You are the apple of God’s eye. You are the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus. You are hid in Christ and Christ in God. You are that star that will not go down. You are that vessel unto honour, sanctified, and fit for the Master’s use. Your identity is of Christ. You are surnamed by God.

Don’t let any situation make you lose sight of your identity in Christ. Use your identity in Christ to defeat the enemy.

Galatians 5: 1 says: “Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.”

Declare With Me: I know my identity in Christ; I will not be a victim of the enemy, in Jesus’ name!

OPPOSING SYSTEMS

“19. And when her masters saw that the hope of their gains was gone, they caught Paul and Silas, and drew them into the marketplace unto the rulers, 20. And brought them to the magistrates, saying, These men, being Jews, do exceedingly trouble our city,” (Acts 16: 19-20)

That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.

Our Focal Scripture speaks of how the masters of the demon possessed damsel brought Paul and Silas to the rulers and magistrates. Paul had cast out a demon from the demon possessed girl; and when her masters saw that the hope of their gains were gone, they turned the rulers and magistrates against Paul and Silas. Legal and government systems were turned against Paul and Silas, and their crime was that they cast out a demon.

Friend, any man that wants to turn systems and structures against you for no just cause, let their efforts come to futility. Any man that wants to turn the hearts of those in power against you, just to suppress your impact and influence, I decree, their works will come to nothing. Any man that wants to use the law against you because you did what is right, may their efforts come to nothing. You will not be a victim of systems just for doing good.

Ordinarily, anyone who cast out demons from a demon possessed person should be commended for lifting the banner of Jesus, but for Paul and Silas, their good became an occasion for them to be plotted against. The good they did put them in trouble. Hear me as I hear the Lord: any conspiracy to use your good works against you, and any plot to put you in trouble because of your good works, I decree, let it scatter by fire.

I pray for you: may the systems of this world turn and work in your favour. May men in power align with your interest. May the thrones of men be in alignment with your interest. May the works of your hands cause you to stand before kings and not before mean men. May the thrones of men not become your albatross. May the voices of your haters and opposers not prevail when your name is mentioned in high places.

Welcome to that season where your influence will be unmitigated. Welcome to that season where no man will turn the systems of this world against you.

Psalm 37: 1-2 says: “1. Fret not thyself because of evildoers, neither be thou envious against the workers of iniquity. 2. For they shall soon be cut down like the grass, and wither as the green herb.”

Declare With Me: Any man that wants to turn the systems of this world against me, go down by fire, in Jesus’ name!

NO EXCHANGE

“And when her masters saw that the hope of their gains was gone, they caught Paul and Silas, and drew them into the marketplace unto the rulers,” (Acts 16: 19)

That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.

Our Focal Scripture speaks of how Paul and Silas were taken to the marketplace, unto the rulers. Because of the termination of the operations of the spirit of divination, the masters of that damsel who was demon possessed took Paul and Silas to the marketplace. A marketplace is a place of exchange and transaction. So, they were taken to a place where they could be exchanged. They were taken to where they could be sold.

Friend, hear me as I hear the Lord: your destiny will not be sold to the enemy. Your destiny will not be exchanged. You will not be an item in any demonic transaction. You will not be numbered amongst them whose lives were traded by the enemy. You will not be counted amongst them who moved from exploits to captivity. You will not be counted amongst them whose impact and greatness made way for bondage.

I pray for you: your destiny will not be exchanged. Your portion will not be exchanged. Your results will not be exchanged. Your influence will not be exchanged. Your greatness will not be exchanged. Your congratulations will not be exchanged. Your rising will not be exchanged. Your opportunities will not be exchanged. Your glory will not be exchanged. Your destiny placement will not be exchanged. Your favour will not be exchanged.

If there be powers that exchange the destinies of great men, I decree, you are not their candidate. Powers that say that you will move from exploits to bondage, I decree, they will not prevail. Every power of the enemy that says you will be a commodity in the marketplace, I decree, they will not prevail. Powers that want to make you a victim in the marketplace, I decree, their plot will not stand. You will not be a victim of rulers in the market.

What is meant for you will not be exchanged. You will not be a victim in the marketplace. You will not move from exploits to bondage.

1 Corinthians 6: 20 says: “For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.”

Declare With Me: My destiny will not be exchanged; I will not be a victim in the marketplace, in Jesus’ name!

FOLLOWED BY NEGATIVITY

“17. The same followed Paul and us, and cried, saying, These men are the servants of the most high God, which shew unto us the way of salvation. 18. And this did she many days. But Paul, being grieved, turned and said to the spirit, I command thee in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her. And he came out the same hour.” (Acts 16: 17-18)

That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.

Our Focal Scripture speaks of how the damsel that was possessed with an evil spirit of divination, followed Paul for many days. This damsel had an evil spirit in her. So, an evil spirit followed Paul about for many days. Satanic activity followed Paul for many days. Negativity followed Paul for many days. What did not descend from God followed Paul for many days. What was not of God followed Paul for many days.

Friend, every power of hell that has chosen to follow you about, I decree, that following ends now. Every wrong spirit that is following you about in destiny, I command it to depart from you right away. I command every satanic atmosphere that is following you to disperse. I command every negative spirit or pattern that is following you to depart from you. I command every monitoring spirit following you to give way.

Notice that the damsel with the evil spirit did not just choose on her own to walk away. Paul needed to command the evil spirit to leave before it could leave. You have the power of God in you, so command the powers of hell to give way; command the negativities that have followed you from year to year to give way; command the patterns and cycles of negativity that have followed you from year to year to give way.

By one proclamation, Paul put an end to the following of the enemy. By one proclamation, what the enemy put in place to follow after Paul was pulled down. Hear me as I hear the Lord: your proclamations will put satanic powers to flight. Command the monitoring spirits around you to give way. Command the altars of hell to be pulled down. Command the powers of darkness to cease from their reign. Command evil to cease from your land.

Welcome to that season where negativity will not follow you about. Welcome to that season where every negativity will be terminated.

Luke 10: 19 says: “Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.”

Declare With Me: I crush every power of the enemy under my feet, in Jesus’ name!

NO FEAR

“One day, as we were going to the house of prayer, we encountered a young slave girl who had an evil spirit of divination, the spirit of Python. She had earned great profits for her owners by being a fortune-teller.” (Acts 16: 16 TPT)

That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.

Our Focal Scripture speaks of the young slave girl who was possessed with an evil spirit of divination, also known as the python spirit. So, Paul and Silas were followed about by the python spirit. One major strategy of the python is to instill fear into its victim or target. Pythons have sensors that help them to discern fear in their targets. Once a python is convinced that its target is afraid, it becomes easier for it to strike.

Friend, when the enemy is planting fear in you, he is simply configuring you to a more convenient format for him to strike. When the enemy plants fear in you, it is because your fear makes it easier for him to attack you effectively. Fear is the weapon of the enemy to bring negativity into your life. Fear is the strategy of the enemy to make you a victim of what you are afraid of. Fear is the strategy of the enemy to weaken your destiny.

Fear is not just the presence of the emotions of scare; fear is the display of wrong emotions through your actions. Fear is not just when you feel something negative; fear is when you act in line with the negativity you feel. If you are acting in line with every fear you feel within you, you are making yourself more vulnerable to the enemy. If you start to act in line with what you fear, you are simply making your fears become your reality.

In Job 3 vs. 25, Job famously said “For the thing which I greatly feared is come upon me, and that which I was afraid of is come unto me”. If you continue to live and act in fear, you will simply actualize your fears. If you continue to fear what everyone else fears, you may end up with the same outcomes you would have wanted to walk away from. No matter how the feelings of fear come to you, let your faith in God swallow your fears.

God has not given you a spirit of fear; but He has given you a spirit of power, a spirit of love, and a sound mind. Discard your fears. Do not fear what others fear.

1 John 4: 18 says: “There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.”

Declare With Me: I discard my fears; I will not fear what others fear, in Jesus’ name!

EVIL VS. GOOD

“One day, as we were going to the house of prayer, we encountered a young slave girl who had an evil spirit of divination, the spirit of Python. She had earned great profits for her owners by being a fortune-teller. ” (Acts 16: 16 TPT)

That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.

The damsel in our Focal Scripture was possessed with an evil spirit, which was described as the spirit of python. By this python spirit, she did her soothsaying and followed Paul and Silas for many days. By the python spirit, she tried to create an alignment with the work of God being done by Paul and Silas. By the python spirit, she wanted evil to work hand in hand with good. By the python spirit, she wanted to mix good with evil.

Friend, hear me as I hear the Lord: no power of hell will mix your good news with bad news. No power of darkness will cause whatever good thing that is in your life to be mixed with evil. Your mission will not be polluted by the powers of hell. Your assignment will not be diluted by the powers of darkness. No affliction will work hand in hand with your success and rising. No messenger of hell will move with you as you move.

The damsel possessed with that python spirit followed Paul and Silas for many days. So, put differently, the python spirit followed Paul and Silas for many days, before Paul commanded the evil spirit to get out. Reject every negativity that wants to attach itself to you. Reject every plan of hell that wants to be a part of your life. Reject every messenger of hell that wants to join in your journey. Refuse to have evil spirits follow you freely.

Today, I pray for you: any power of hell that is already part of your journey, I disconnect them from you. I terminate the reign of satanic powers over your assignment. I terminate the presence of satanic powers in your journey. I decree that your good news is forbidden to mix with bad news. I decree that the works of God in your life will not be mixed with the works of the enemy. I decree that no python spirit mixes with your spirit.

The reign of evil spirits around you, is over. I put every serpentine spirit around you to flight. The power of leviathan around you is broken.

Isaiah 27: 1 says: “In that day the LORD with his sore and great and strong sword shall punish leviathan the piercing serpent, even leviathan that crooked serpent; and he shall slay the dragon that is in the sea.”

Declare With Me: My good will not be mixed with evil; every python spirit, break by fire, in Jesus’ name!

WHO GETS THE GLORY?

“One day, as we were going to the house of prayer, we encountered a young slave girl who had an evil spirit of divination, the spirit of Python. She had earned great profits for her owners by being a fortune-teller.” (Acts 16: 16 TPT)

That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.

The damsel in our Focal Scripture was making gains for her masters through her soothsaying. She was fortune telling; she was speaking of the future, but the goal was not to glorify God at all. She saw Paul and Silas and spoke of them as true servants of God, but all that was in a bid to bring glory to the enemy. She was right about the fact that Paul and Silas were true servants of God, but alas, Satan was being glorified.

Friend, as you grow in life, it is important that you are mindful of who gets the glory in whatever is going on around you. Who is getting the glory for that seemingly positive feat you just achieved? Who is getting the glory for the doors and gates that are opening to you? Who is getting the glory in whatever successes you are recording? Who is getting the glory for your rising? Who is getting the glory for the positive things around you?

Always discern who gets the glory in whatever you are involved in. Always discern who is getting glorified by whatever you are celebrating. Always discern who is getting the accolades for your rising. Always discern who is getting the applause for your results and evidence. Always discern who is getting glorified by the events of your life. Always discern whether it is the Lord that is being glorified, or the devil is being glorified.

At some point, Paul seemed to realize that the positive words of the damsel were not for the glory of God, and he shut down the evil spirit. The very moment you realize that anything which seems positive is not for the glory of God, shut it down. Shut down every avenue around you that is giving glory to Satan. Shut down every arrangement that is bringing glory to hell. Shut down every satanic activity that is making hell famous.

You were made to bring glory to God. You were not made to win glory to the enemy.

Isaiah 42: 8 says: “I am the LORD: that is my name: and my glory will I not give to another, neither my praise to graven images.”

Declare With Me: Everything around me that is not bringing glory to God, I shut it down, in Jesus’ name!

UNSEEN BENEFICIARIES

“And it came to pass, as we went to prayer, a certain damsel possessed with a spirit of divination met us, which brought her masters much gain by soothsaying:” (Acts 16: 16)

That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.

Our Focal Scripture speaks of how the damsel that was possessed with the spirit of divination brought her masters much gain by her soothsaying. That damsel followed Paul and Silas around; her masters were not seen, but every gain she made went to them. There were men behind the scenes, benefiting from the soothsaying of the damsel. There were unseen men who made gains from the satanic activities of the damsel.

Friend, hear me as I hear the Lord: every man behind the scenes that is making gains from satanic activities around you, I command them to go down. Every man that is gaining from the projections from the pit of hell, I command such projections to turn around and swallow them. Every man that is benefitting from the wickedness that is being meted to you, I command them to go down. I tear down unseen beneficiaries of evil.

It seemed that the damsel was speaking right when she declared that Paul and Silas were men of God, but behind the scenes, there were men who were making gains. Negativity was clothed in positivity, and some men were making money off that deception. Hear me as I hear the Lord: every man that is feeding off the negativities around you that are clothed in positivity, I command the wickedness they are benefiting from to backfire.

I pray for you: may your eyes be open to seen when there are men behind the scenes, funding and supporting the negativity that is around you. May your eyes be open and may your spirit man be alert to discern the wicked men that are hiding behind the scenes to sponsor negativity around you. May you not be at home with the wickedness of the wicked that are hiding behind the scene. May you discern evil men smiling at you.

Welcome to that season where evil men will not celebrate behind the scenes on account of wickedness around you. Welcome to that season where no evil man behind the scenes will benefit from negativity around you.

Isaiah 31: 3 says: “Now the Egyptians are men, and not God; and their horses flesh, and not spirit. When the LORD shall stretch out his hand, both he that helpeth shall fall, and he that is holpen shall fall down, and they all shall fail together.”

Declare With Me: Evil men behind the scenes, benefiting from evil around me, go down by fire, in Jesus’ name!

YOU ARE NOT ALONE

“Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.” (Psalm 23: 5)

That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.

The psalmist in our Focal Scripture, speaks of how the Lord prepared a table before him in the presence of his enemies. By the affirmation of the psalmist, enemies were on ground before the table was prepared. The word ‘enemies’ speaks of the plurality of those against the psalmist. It was not just one enemy. Enemies were gathered against the psalmist, and all of a sudden, the Lord arose to prepare a table in their presence. So, the psalmist was really not alone. The Lord was with him.

Friend, you may be surrounded by enemies, but you are not alone. You may be surrounded by those who are plotting to finish you off, but they have no idea that you are not alone. There may be people who want to silence your destiny, but maybe they need to know that you really are not alone. There may be enemies positioning to eat you up, but they have no idea that you are not alone. The odds may be against you, but you are not alone. You are not defenseless as your enemies think.

The enemies may have imagined themselves to be on the same level with the psalmist, they may have thought themselves to have outnumbered the psalmist, but they had no idea that the one who outnumbers the entire universe was with the psalmist. There may be people who imagine that they have already outnumbered you, they may be imagining that they have you in a tight corner, but El Roi is present with you to defeat them all.

Live with the consciousness that you are not alone. Live with the consciousness that El Roi has His eyes on you. Live with the consciousness that you cannot be outnumbered by the enemies in this world. Live with the consciousness that the One who is with you is greater than all those against you. Live with the consciousness that El Roi is about to prepare tables for you right in the presence of the enemies that want you to go down.

Truly, you are not alone; you are not as vulnerable as enemies think; you are not as helpless as they imagine. Though they encamp against you, be confident in the fact that you are not alone.

Psalm 27: 1 says: “The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?”

Declare With Me: I am not alone; El Roi lives in me, in Jesus’ name!

WHO ARE YOU BECOMING?

“Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.” (Psalm 23: 4)

That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.

In our Focal Scripture, the psalmist speaks of the rod and staff of the shepherd. In bible times, shepherds had both rods and staff. Whilst the rods were used against predators, staff were used to guide and direct the sheep. Sheep by their nature, had the tendency to go out of line, but she shepherd would always use his staff to whip the sheep back in line and back in position. The staff was symbolic of the shepherd’s work on the sheep.

Friend, as you navigate through life, it is important that you subject yourself to the leadings and dealings of the shepherd. The staff of the shepherd is his tool to keep you in line. How vulnerable have you become to the shepherd? How has He been able to whip you back into line? What are you learning? Who are you becoming? What have you dropped off? What have you imbibed? What changes are you making? Where is the staff?

People who do not understand the shepherd think he is using his staff on the sheep, but the sheep knows that the staff of the shepherd is there to keep it in line. If your life is devoid of the discipline of the Lord, you just might end up making mistakes that will expose you to the predators from hell. If the staff of the Lord is not used to keep you in line, you just might stray into the waiting hands of the predators that want to swallow you.

Don’t be content to enjoy the green pastures from the shepherd but avoid the staff that keeps you in line. Don’t be that sheep that feeds on green pasture but will not make room for the staff of the Shepherd. It is okay that you enjoy the green pasture, but it matters a lot that who you are becoming is in line with the mandate and agenda of heaven. It is important that you gradually reflect the rightful image of the Shepherd.

Don’t be that sheep that loves the pasture but hates the staff. As you enjoy the green pastures, let the Lord use His staff on you. Let the authority of Jesus find expression in your life. Let your character evolve under Jesus.

John 15: 2 says: “Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit.”

Declare With Me: The staff of Jesus bears rule over me; I will not grow out of line, in Jesus’ name!

KEEP MOVING

“Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.” (Psalm 23: 4)

That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.

In verses preceding our Focal Scripture, the psalmist speaks severally of how the Lord leads him, into green pastures, beside still waters and in the paths of righteousness. All of a sudden, the narrative takes a different turn in the valley of the shadow of death, and it is the psalmist walking all by himself, with no mention of the Shepherd. The psalmist said, “though I walk through the valley…”. So, when it seemed that the Shepherd was missing and out of sight, the sheep kept moving.

Friend, there will be times when you simply can’t feel the presence of the Shepherd around you. There will be times when you cannot feel the leading of the Shepherd. At such times, remember what the Shepherd taught you, and move. The Shepherd led the sheep, He taught the sheep to move, and when the sheep couldn’t feel the Shepherd, he still moved. Move when you can’t see the Shepherd. Move when it seems dark and dreadful. Move even if you feel all alone in the valley.

Don’t allow any situation tie you down. There are times when you will find yourself in the valley. There are times when situations will arise to stampede your faith; at such times, keep moving. When it seems that everyone has abandoned you, keep moving. In seasons when you are the only one doing what is right, keep moving. In seasons when your prayers are not being answered, keep moving. In seasons when you are down, keep moving.

To settle in the valley is to settle for death and destiny reduction and destruction. To settle in the valley is not an option for anyone who has followed the Shepherd. To settle in the valley is not an option for anyone who has encountered Jesus and accepted His finished work on the cross. Even if you got to the valley by your own error, don’t remain there; keep moving. Don’t accept the habitation of the valley.

Receive the grace to move out of the valley. Receive the grace to keep moving against all odds. Receive grace to move when it seems the Shepherd is not nigh. Receive the grace to move in all seasons.

Isaiah 50: 10 says: “Who is among you that feareth the LORD, that obeyeth the voice of his servant, that walketh in darkness, and hath no light? let him trust in the name of the LORD, and stay upon his God.”

Declare With Me: Even when I can’t see the Shepherd, I choose to keep moving, in Jesus’ name!

STRIKE EVERY PREDATOR

“Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.” (Psalm 23: 4)

That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.

In our Focal Scripture, the psalmist speaks of the rod and staff of the shepherd. In bible times, shepherds had both rods and staff. The idea of the rod was to scare and attack predators. Because of the weakness of sheep, there was a tendency that wild predators could come for it, and no true shepherd would allow his sheep to be taken. The shepherds would naturally strike the predators and shield the sheep. The rod was used against predators.

Friend, you serve a God who does not spare predators. If there be predators that have arisen against you, arise with your rod and strike them. Strike every satanic attack that has been launched against you. Strike every structure of hell that has been raised against you. Strike every messenger of darkness that is working against you. Strike every conspiracy and conspirators that have arisen against you. Strike every predator.

Any shepherd who was not willing to use his rod against predators was simply giving approval for his sheep to be taken. If you fail to arise in warfare against the predators that have come for your ‘sheep’, just maybe your sheep will be taken from you right before your very eyes. If you fail to attack the satanic uprising against you, you will become prey in the hands of the terrible. If you fail to strike your predators, they will eat your sheep.

You were not redeemed by Jesus so that you can watch the gates of hell advance into your territory without restraint. You were not redeemed so that you can stay safe while your sheep is taken away from you. You were redeemed so you can be a gate keeper. You were redeemed so that you can be that shepherd that will save the sheep. You were redeemed so that the gates of hell will suffer loss. You were redeemed to hit predators.

Welcome to that season where you must use your rod against the predators that have arisen against you. Welcome to that season where you will crush the works of the enemy.

Isaiah 49: 25 says: “But thus saith the LORD, Even the captives of the mighty shall be taken away, and the prey of the terrible shall be delivered: for I will contend with him that contendeth with thee, and I will save thy children.”

Declare With Me: In this new season, I crush every predator, in Jesus’ name!

LEAVE THE VALLEY

“Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.” (Psalm 23: 4)

That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.

In our Focal Scripture, the psalmist speaks about the walk through the valley of the shadow of death. The psalmist journeyed in the valley. The valley is a place of death. The valley is a low ground. The valley is the opposite of the mountain top. The psalmist went through the valley, and it was a valley of the shadow of death. It was a low ground that had death hiding in it. It was a low ground that had death in the offing for the psalmist.

Friend, when the enemy wants to extinguish a life, he begins with creating a valley experience. A journey through the valley is a potential journey of death. If the enemy is encouraging you to go on low grounds, you just might be making yourself more available for destruction. When you journey in the valley of sin and depression, below your destiny mandate and below your consecration, the enemy is preparing you for death.

If there be any valley you are already caught in, it is time to arise out of it. Walk away from the valley of unhealthy relationships. Walk away from the valley of reduction. Walk away from the valley of your wrong choices. Walk away from the valley of sin. Walk away from every connection that takes you to the valley. Say no to every connection that bring you down from the heights where God placed you. Refuse to go down in destiny.

Notice that the psalmist simply walked through the valley of the shadow of death. He didn’t stay in the valley. Make a commitment to leave every valley you have found yourself in. Walk away from every low ground that the enemy wants you to dwell in. Don’t stay down because you went down. Don’t accept the valley because you are already in it. Arise and walk away. If there be people who take you to the valley, walk away from them.

You were not wired to be in the valley. You were made for the mountain. You were made for heights. Your time in the valley is over.

Micah 7: 8 says: “Rejoice not against me, O mine enemy: when I fall, I shall arise; when I sit in darkness, the LORD shall be a light unto me.”

Declare With Me: I refuse to dwell in the valley; I will not end in the valley, in Jesus’ name!

NO FEAR

“Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.” (Psalm 23: 4)

That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.

In our Focal Scripture, the psalmist speaks of how he fears no evil whilst walking through the valley of the shadow of death, because the Lord is with him. The psalmist inferred that there is no fear in the valley because the Lord is with him. He inferred that because of the Lord that is with him, what he ordinarily should be afraid of, he is no longer afraid of it. He inferred that because the Lord is with him, he has nothing to fear.

Friend, I am aware that ordinarily, there are things you would need to be wary of. There are situations and circumstances that are not within your control that you may be expected to worry about. There are changes in society that you need to worry about. There are battles that people like you should ordinarily be scared of. There are roadblocks that people would expect you to be afraid of. There are valleys that could trigger fear.

Hear me as I hear the Lord: the Lord is with you. As you face the vicissitudes of life, the Lord is with you. As you face the battles of life, the Lord is with you. As you face the same challenges that may have reduced others, the Lord is with you. As you navigate through the troubled waters of this life, the Lord is with you. As you confront adversaries that stand against you, the Lord is with you. The presence of the Lord is with you in your journey.

Notice that when Jesus made way for the Holy Spirit to become our comforter, we moved from having God with us to having God in us. Hear me as I hear the Lord: because the Lord lives in you, you will fear no evil. You will walk through the waters and you will not be drowned. You will walk through the fire and you will not be burned. You will walk through what reduced others and it will not reduce or extinguish your destiny.

Welcome to that season where you will not fear the fear of others. Welcome to that season where the presence of God will conquer every fear in you.

1 John 4: 4 says: “Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.”

Declare With Me: Because the Lord is with me, I fear no evil, in Jesus’ name!

PATHS OF RIGHTEOUSNESS

“He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.” (Psalm 23: 3)

That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.

In our Focal Scripture, the psalmist speaks of how the Lord leads him in paths of righteousness. The Shepherd didn’t only lead the psalmist to green pastures; He did not only lead him beside still waters; He also led him to the paths of righteousness. By the psalmist’s assertion, righteousness has paths and the Shepherd led him therein. The leading of the Shepherd caused the psalmist to be led in the paths of righteousness.

Friend, as the Lord leads you, there are paths He intends to lead you through, and those paths are called paths of righteousness. Righteousness has paths. That also means that unrighteousness has paths. Righteousness has paths it will approve of and some paths it will disapprove of. Righteousness comes from the root word ‘right’. As the Lord leads you, He also intends that you be on the path of what is right, not what is wrong.

When you find yourself in pathways that lead you to unrighteousness, you may need to ask yourself if God is still leading you or your flesh has taken over. If you find yourself desiring what the Lord hates, check who is leading. If your appetite for what is right is waning and your appetite for what is wrong is growing, then maybe you are not being led by the Lord anymore, or perhaps you are not following His leading as before.

In 1 Corinthians 10 vs. 23, Apostle Paul rightly said, “All things are lawful for me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but all things edify not”. When the Lord leads you, you may have to deal with walking away from paths that are not even entirely ungodly, in order to preserve your consecration. When the Lord leads you, He literally redefines what is right for everyone and what is right for you based on His calling.

In 2 Timothy 2 vs. 19 (KJV), Apostle Paul wrote thus to Timothy: “Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity”. If you have chosen to be led in the paths of righteousness, then also choose to depart from the paths of unrighteousness.

Psalm 1: 1 says: “Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.”

Declare With Me: I am led in the paths of righteousness, in Jesus’ name!

RESTORED

“He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.” (Psalm 23: 3)

That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.

In our Focal Scripture, the psalmist speaks about how the Lord restores his soul. Notice that in the narrative, the shepherd already took the sheep on a journey from green pastures to still waters, and thereafter there was need to restore the soul of the sheep. What the sheep lost in the journey was restored. The shepherd gave back what was lost in the sheep. There was a giving back to the sheep. There was restoration.

Friend, hear me as I hear the Lord: the grace of God will recreate whatever has been lost in your life. Whatsoever is missing in your life, I decree, let the Lord restore. The Lord restores whatever is missing in your health. The Lord restores what you lost in years back. The Lord restores whatever you lost in your finances. The Lord restores the time you lost. The Lord restores the opportunities you lost. The Lord restores your losses.

By the grace of God, receive back everything you lost. Receive back the opportunities you lost. Receive the relevance you lost. Receive back the resources you lost. Receive back the access you lost. Receive back the financial gates you lost. Receive back the favours you lost. Receive back the health you lost. Receive back the help and helpers you lost. Receive back the celebrations and congratulations you lost. Receive back your losses.

When God restores, He does not just give back the much you lost. God restores with compensation. I pray for you: may the Lord give you back what is missing with compensation. May God give you back more than what you lost. May the Lord use the occasion of your losses to cause you to have more than you have ever had. May the Lord use your losses as occasion to make your path shine brighter and brighter until the perfect day.

Welcome to your season of receiving back what you lost. Welcome to your season of restoration with compensation.

Joel 2: 25 says: “And I will restore to you the years that the locust hath eaten, the cankerworm, and the caterpiller, and the palmerworm, my great army which I sent among you.”

Declare With Me: Whatsoever I lost is restored, in Jesus’ name!

DIVINELY DIRECTED

“2. …he leadeth me beside the still waters. 3. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.” (Psalm 23: 2-3)

That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.

In our Focal Scripture, the psalmist speaks of how the Lord leads him beside still waters. He also speaks of how the Lord leads him in the paths of righteousness. The psalmist established the idea that it is God who leads him. Whether it be still waters or paths of righteousness, it was the Lord that led the psalmist. The Lord gave direction to the psalmist. The Lord took responsibility for choosing the direction that the psalmist would walk in.

Friend, I pray for you: may you enjoy the blessing of divine direction. May the Lord show you the way to go. May the Lord show you the way not to go. May the Lord show you what to do and what not to do. May the Lord show you the paths to walk in and those to avoid. May the Lord show you the direction your destiny should take. May the Lord show you divine direction. May the Lord set you on a path that should lead you to succeed.

Notice that the Lord led the psalmist both beside still waters and even in paths of righteousness. Terrains changed but divine direction remained constant. Hear me as I hear the Lord: terrains may change but direction is sure. Environments might change but divine direction will never elude you. You may not always know what is best but the Lord will direct you. God will lead you in the way that you should go. God will grant you direction.

I pray for you: may you enjoy divine direction in your career. May you enjoy divine direction in ministry. May you enjoy divine direction in your family. May God lead you in the way that will cause your expectations to become reality. May God lead you to the path of your help and helpers. May God lead you to the way of success. May God lead you in directions of safety. May God lead you in the path of safety.

When God leads, nothing goes wrong. Ask the Lord to lead you. Welcome to the season of divine direction.

Isaiah 30: 21 says: “And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is the way, walk ye in it, when ye turn to the right hand, and when ye turn to the left.”

Declare With Me: I walk in divine direction, in Jesus’ name!

DISCERN THE WATERS

“He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.” (Psalm 23: 2)

That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.

One major reason why the shepherds in bible times ensured that waters were stilled so that sheep can drink, was because of the wooly nature of the sheep. The sheep has a wooly body and would be soaked if it got into waters, and possibly drown. So, the idea of still waters was to give the sheep a chance to drink from the waters without being soaked in the waters. The waters were stilled so that the sheep can drink and walk away.

Friend, there are waters you are meant to drink from but you are not meant to swim in same, or else you would be drowned. There are waters you need to drink carefully without being ‘entangled’ in the waters. There are waters you need to drink from and simply walk away. The same way the sheep was led beside the still waters but not into the still waters, discern the waters you can drink from and pass by without entering in.

As you grow in life, God will bring you to relationships you need to drink from and walk away without being entangled. God will bring you to people who you can only drink from but never be connected to. There are opportunities you will have to explore and take the best out of it without looking like you got into it. There are waters you can drink but must not soak yourself in. There are waters not to be engrossed in.

Be sensitive to discern when the Lord would not have you swim in certain waters. Be sensitive to the waters that are good enough to drink from but not okay to get into. Be sensitive to know the waters that God is only comfortable to lead you by. If God says to drink and move on, please don’t make the mistake of getting into it. If God says to drink and move on, don’t stay back there because you were refreshed by the waters you drank.

Life will always present you with still waters that you may be tempted to swim in, but don’t fall for it. Be content to have God lead you beside still waters, and be discerning enough to know when you must never get in.

Ephesians 5: 15 says: “See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise,”

Declare With Me: I discern the still waters that I can drink from but must not get into, in Jesus’ name!

STILL WATERS

“He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.” (Psalm 23: 2)

That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.

In our Focal Scripture, the psalmist speaks of how the Lord leads him like a shepherd leads the sheep beside still waters. Because of the weakness of sheep, shepherds in bible times often created a speed break on the waters, so that the speed of the waters would not carry away the sheep if they tried to drink from flowing waters. Some animals may have been strong enough to deal with flowing waters, but waters needed to be stilled for sheep.

Friend, God knows the flowing waters you cannot drink from. He knows the difficult places you cannot fight in. He knows the terrains that you are not strong enough to survive in. He knows the contemporaries you cannot effectively compete with. He knows the battles you won’t win if you were left alone to fight all by yourself. God knows your limitations in frame. He knows the waters that may drown you.

Hear me as I hear the Lord: in this season, God will lead you beside still waters. God will still the waters so that you can drink from it. God will cause the things that are difficult for others to be made easy for you. God will cause your portion to be stilled so that you can have it without being in danger. God will cause your waters to be stilled so that you can drink without drowning.

I pray for you: may you not be drowned by the same waters you came to drink from. May you not fall as a result of the same miracles you came to partake from. May you not depreciate because of the waters that God brought you to. May it not be said that you came to drink from the waters and ended up being swallowed therein. May it not be said that your waters were too violent and carried you away because you came to have your portion.

Welcome to that season where the Lord will still your waters. Welcome to that season where the Lord will cause you to drink without being drowned.

Psalm 103: 14 says: “For he knoweth our frame; he remembereth that we are dust.”

Declare With Me: The Lord is calming my waters; I will have my portion with ease, in Jesus’ name!

KEEP MOVING

“He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.” (Psalm 23: 2)

That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.

After speaking of how the Lord makes him to lie down in green pastures, David speaks in our Focal Scripture about how the Lord leads him beside the still waters. After being made to lie down in green pastures, there was movement afterwards, led by the Lord Himself. So, the green pastures did not mark the end of movement. Green pastures did not remove the need for leading and movement. Green pastures were followed by the leading of the Lord beside still waters.

Friend, you will be making the mistake of your life if you imagine that your green pasture is an indication for you to stop moving. Your green pasture does not mean you should stop growing. Your green pasture does not mean you should not rise higher to greater things. Your green pasture is no excuse to become stagnated and start a journey of personal decline. Your green pasture does not mean that the Lord is done leading you. Your green pasture should not make you to need God less.

Notice that the psalmist first made mention of the issue of green pastures, and then followed up with the leading of the Lord beside still waters. That means, after green pastures, there was still the leading of the Lord. No matter how green your pastures have become, allow the Lord to keep leading you. No matter how much you have achieved or attained, let the Lord continue to lead you. Don’t end your walk with Jesus because He helped you.

Has the Lord brought you to your green pastures? Make a commitment to keep growing. Make a commitment to keep being led by Him. Make a commitment to become better than you are currently. Make a commitment to continue to be an improved version of yourself. Make a commitment to make sure that no new day finds you on the same level the past day left you in. Make a commitment to keep moving.

May it never be said that you stopped because you arrived at your green pasture. May it never be said that your green pastures became your highway to stagnation.

Psalm 18: 28 says: “For thou wilt light my candle: the LORD my God will enlighten my darkness.”

Declare With Me: I will not be stopped by my green pastures, in Jesus’ name!

THERE IS MORE

“He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.” (Psalm 23: 2)

That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.

After speaking of how God makes him to lie down in green pastures, he spoke about how God leads him beside still waters. Both statements were separated by a colon; and in English, colon is used to connect the first part of the sentence with the second part, and in fact, the second part explains the first part. So, God gave the miracle of green pastures, and connected it with still waters. A miracle was connected to another miracle.

Friend, hear me as I hear the Lord: every miracle that is coming your way will be connected to more miracles. As new doors open to you, it will lead to more open doors. Every miracle will be connected to bigger miracles. Every breakthrough will be connected to more breakthroughs. Every increase will be connected to more increase. Every celebration will be connected to more celebrations. Every good news will bring more good news.

Hear me as I hear the Lord: what the Lord is about to make happen for you will be connected to more acts of God that will blow your mind. The God who does wonders without numbers will cause you to move from wonders to more wonders. The God whose works are incremental will cause you to move from one miracle that sounds like lies, to more miracles that sound like lies. Those who see your green pastures will soon see you move to more things.

It will never be said that your miracle was connected to negativity. It will never be said that your good news was mixed with bad news. It will never be said that your celebrations ended in bitter tears. It will never be said that something good began in your life but ended badly. God will not author your good news and allow the enemy to complete what He started. God will not alpha your miracle and allow the enemy to omega it.

Welcome to that season where your miracles will be connected to more miracles. Welcome to that season where your good news will not be mixed with bad news.

Proverbs 10: 22 says: “The blessing of the LORD, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow with it.”

Declare With Me: My good news will not be mixed with bad news, in Jesus’ name!

EARLY ANSWERS

“He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.” (Psalm 23: 2)

That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.

In the tale of Psalm 23, the psalmist began with declaring that the Lord is his shepherd, and that he shall not want. The next thing that was mentioned was the matter of being made to lie down in green pasture. Very early in the narrative, the psalmist was already lying down. To lie down is to be in a posture of rest. So, early in the narrative, the psalmist was in a position of rest. The Lord caused the psalmist to have early rest.

Friend, hear me as I hear the Lord: this is your season of early rest and early miracles. Your congratulations will come early. Your rest will come early. Your good news will come early. The help of God will come to you early. The breakthroughs that are coming your way will come early. You will enjoy early satisfaction. When men think it is too early for you to elevated, you will receive elevation. When men think it is too early for you to rise, you will rise.

Hear me as I hear the Lord: the things you thought should come much later will come to you early. You will rise to new thrones earlier than expected. You will wear new crowns earlier than expected. You will be congratulated earlier than expected. Your harvest will come earlier than expected. Your new chapters of greatness will come earlier than expected. Your doors and gates will open to you earlier than expected.

Anyone in a posture of rest is not in a troubled situation. A man who is at rest is a man who is not at war. Hear me as I hear the Lord: your rest will come earlier than expected. While others are still laboring in their families, marriage, career, business, ministry, etc. you would already have been at rest ahead of them. The Lord will cause you to be at rest on all sides. He that causes wars to cease will cause your wars to cease early.

Welcome to that season where your rest will come early. Welcome to your season of early answers.

Psalm 46: 5 says: “God is in the midst of her; she shall not be moved: God shall help her, and that right early.”

Declare With Me: I receive early help; my rest shall come early, in Jesus’ name!
