Hmmmm.........Valentine’s Day! that magical time of the yr when lovebirds flock to overpriced restaurants, exchange mass-produced declarations of affection, and flood social media with captions like “Forever my soulmate” as if last week's bakchodi about "Why didn’t you pick up my call?" never even happened!
It’s the day where single laundes are made to feel like outcasts, while couples engage in a performance so elaborate, even Oscar-winning actors would take notes.. Bouquets of roses (which will wilt in two days), heart-shaped chocolates (coz apparently, love has a specific geometry), and exaggerated gestures of love (which mysteriously vanish by February 15th) dominate the scene..
Restaurants, knowing their prey well, double their prices for the same soggy pasta served ystrdy, but now with an added “romantic ambiance” a dim light and an awkward violinist trying to ignore the couple fighting at table five..
And let’s not forget the gift exchange! Some will go overboard with grand gestures, hoping to compensate for a year’s worth of forgotten anniversaries, bakchodies etc .. Others will pretend to love the stuffed teddy bear they’ll shove into a closet by March..
At the end of the day, Valentine’s isn’t about love...it’s about capitalism, forced expectations, and proving to the world (or at least your Instagram followers🙃 ) that u r in the perfect relationship bcz nothing says "true love" like a 24-hour celebration fueled by peer pressure and corporate greed.
So, here’s to Valentine’s Day! The only day when love is loud, but logic is on mute & May your flowers last longer than your patience for each other..🥂
