Rivers State Boosts Tourism with Port Harcourt Beach Handover to Landmark Group
The Rivers State Government has transferred control of the Port Harcourt Tourist Beach to Landmark Group for development, aiming to enhance tourism in the region.
This follows a memorandum of understanding between the state and the company. Representing the government, Hon. Dr. Israel Ngbuelo, the Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, commended Governor Sir Dr. Siminalaye Fubara for his focus on cultural and tourism investments.
The project is anticipated to create employment opportunities, increase revenue, and establish Rivers State as a leading tourism hub in Nigeria, drawing global visitors. Engr Emeka Njuku of Landmark Group thanked the state leadership and pledged to develop top-tier tourist facilities, promising innovative leisure experiences for Port Harcourt.

OBIO/AKPOR CHAIRMAN CONSTITUTE POS COMMITTEE
The Executive Chairman of Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State, Ambassador Chijioke Ihunwo, has constituted an Obio/Akpor Point of Sale (POS) committee.
The 11 Man committee is saddled with the responsibility of managing POS operations in the local government, and collect Operational Permit from all POS Outlets/Stand within the local government

On January 20, 2024, youths of the Rumuduru Community, apprehended two pastors: Pastor Umoren Bassey, the presiding pastor of God Deliverance Apostolic Church, and Pastor Elijah Aniete, leader of the Power House of Glory International Gospel Church.
The suspects were subsequently handed over to police operatives of the command.
During interrogation, Pastor Umoren Bassey admitted to using spiritual materials and praying for people as directed by God. He stated that he uses water and oil to heal individuals suffering from various spiritual afflictions and has lived in the community for over 17 years, offering healing and assistance.
Umoren further explained that he uses a small casket and “miracle life oil” to pray for people afflicted with insanity, claiming they are healed within three months.
