I would like to draw your kind attention towards the issues faced by me in the Typing exam of CGL 2024 MAINS held on 18 Jan 2025:
1. Endless Passage Exceeding 2000 Characters: SSC has mentioned in the official notification of CGL 2024 that the passage in DEST will consist of 2000 characters which should be typed in 15 minutes. However, the passage provided in the exam appeared to be infinite, causing immense confusion and making it impossible for students to complete it in 15 minutes.
2. Scrolling Problems: The scroll bar became too sensitive due to the length of the passage, further adding to the chaos by making it impossible to track the typed content. Even a single click led to scrolling through a huge number of lines.
3. Mental Pressure: This flawed system created unnecessary stress during the exam, as students were unaware about the passage length exceeding probably 5000 characters, leading to instant nervousness and anxiety during the exam.
Our Humble Requests:
1. Re-exam of Typing: All aspirants should be allowed to reappear in the typing exam.
2. Issue a Public Notice: Clarify the typing test pattern and provide a detailed explanation of how the typing test is evaluated.

Subject: Grievance Regarding Malfunctioning Keyboards During SSC CHSL Typing Test on 18th November
Dear Sir/Madam,
We, the candidates who appeared for the SSC CHSL Typing Test on 18th November, wish to bring to your attention the difficulties we faced due to malfunctioning keyboards at various test centers.
Several candidates encountered issues such as unresponsive, sticky, or malfunctioning keys, which severely impacted our performance during this critical test. As typing speed and accuracy form an essential part of the evaluation, such technical problems have put many of us at an unfair disadvantage despite our preparation and skills.
This experience has been disheartening, especially given the amount of effort and dedication we have invested in reaching this stage of the examination process. We kindly request the Commission to consider the following measures to address this issue and prevent such occurrences in the future:
1. Investigation and Rectification: Conduct a detailed inquiry into the technical arrangements at the affected centers to identify the lapses.
2. Retest Opportunity: Allow candidates who faced issues an opportunity to reappear for the typing test under fair and optimal conditions.
3. Standardized Equipment Checks: Implement mandatory pre-test checks of keyboards and other equipment to ensure proper functionality.
4. Backup Arrangements: Maintain a reserve of functional keyboards at every center to quickly address any technical problems during the test.
