The Odysseuses

Jorge Luis Borges divided all stories ever told into four types. any epic, any mythology and literary masterpieces. among these four archetypes, he singled out the "Odyssey" - a story of a journey and a story of return.

since the time of Homer, this type of story has been retold in its own way by a fair share of dramatists, writers, and philosophers. for example, in Carlos Castaneda's "Journey to Ixtlan", the main character, Don Genaro, on his way back home, is abducted by a certain spirit who transports him to the mountaintop. after defeating it, Don Genaro continues his journey home.

along the way, he encounters different people who try to detain or stop him - through persuasion, pleas, or force. over time, he realizes that they are all nothing more than demons and phantoms of the mind trying to divert him from his path. whether it's the sirens of Odysseus, the demons of Don Genaro, or the alcoholics on the road from Moscow in Erofeev's works - they are all the same images, and all their stories are stories about the same thing.

Odysseus is a person who has a dream of regaining something lost. since everyone has this dream, everyone is Odysseus. the fomobuyer dreams of regaining Grimace for two cents, Khovansky dreams of a healthy liver, and we dream of restoring order in both life and the market.

our Ithaca is a slightly fairer and more honest world where everything is a little better for every good person than it is now. and together, we will reach it very quickly. because when Odysseus is alone, he can get messed up by a cyclops, but when there are tens of thousands of Odysseuses, well, sorry, but any cyclops is in some big trouble.
