Clarification on JAMB Registration for National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) Admission 2025

The JAMB registration process for NOUN students is primarily for generating a unique JAMB Registration ID or Number. This ID is essential for completing your admission process at NOUN and may also prove useful for other purposes, such as educational documentation in the future.

It is important to understand that this registration is not the same as applying to write the JAMB examination. *As a NOUN student, you are not required to sit for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). The purpose of this process is simply to obtain an official registration ID from JAMB to formalize your admission and align with national education requirements.

Do I Also need JAMB Registration Number as a Postgraduate Student wanting to gain admission?

For postgraduates, it's a NO, you don't need JAMB for this just as it is with conventional universities. JAMB is not a required prerequisite for postgraduates

📌 100 and 200 Levels: Semester, course, and examination registration closes on 29th December 2024.

📌 POP (Pen on Paper) Students: Registration ends tomorrow 15th November 2024

Tutor Marked Assignment (TMA) Submission:
📌 TMA submission deadline for all students is 5th December 2024. (an extension is possible)

Examination Period:

All examinations will conclude by 15th February 2025.

POP Exams: Begin on 26th November 2024.
E-Exams: Expected to start on 20th January 2025 (subject to confirmation).

NOUN Responds to Fake News Regarding Students' Carryover Courses


The attention of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) has been drawn to a story making the rounds that certain persons have been using the University's portal to contact students directly, showing them their current status and requesting money to clear their outstanding carryover courses. A screenshot of a chat purporting to be between the University and one of the affected students was shown to the Management.

The Management wishes to inform all the NOUN students and the general public that the University is unaware of any hacking of its portal and has not asked any of its students to pay money to anybody to clear their outstanding carryover courses. The said request was fake and, we believe, the handiwork of unscrupulous elements desperately wishing to defraud unsuspecting students of the University.

As far as we know, our portal has not been hacked and we have taken strong measures to further safeguard it.

NOUN students should ignore the said request. Anybody who received such a request should alert their Study Centre so that necessary action can be taken against the source of the misinformation.

TMA Commencement
TMAs are scheduled to begin on October 30th, 2024. It is crucial that all students prepare accordingly.

e-Learn Portal Activation

All students must activate their e-Learn portal before the TMA commencement date. To achieve this:
1. Complete your exam registration to gain access to the e-Learn portal.
2. Ensure your student email is active.
3. We strongly recommend using the Google Authenticator app for receiving Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) codes for portal login.

For e-Exam Students
We understand concerns about portal closure before TMA completion. Please note:

- Management typically extends registration for 100 and 200 level students.
- However, early registration is advantageous for better preparation and convenience.

TMA Submission Guidelines
To optimize your TMA performance:

All undergraduate students are required to participate in the practical exercise as it is a mandatory component of the curriculum (Check the timetable to know the courses that are practical courses for your individual programme on your student portal). Please note that practical scores will be incorporated into your final examination results, as there will be no Tutor-Marked Assignments (TMAs) for any practical courses.

Registration and Modification Process

To register for practicals or modify your batch/centre, please follow these steps:

1. Access the NOUN Website: Navigate to www.nouonline.nou.edu.ng.

2. Student Portal Access:
- Close any notice board or pop-ups that may appear upon page load.
- Locate and click on the "Registered Student" option.
- Enter your credentials:
- Matriculation number
- Password 🔑
- Captcha code
- Click "Submit" to proceed.

3. Navigate to Course Options:
- If necessary, close any additional notice boards that appear post-login.
- Locate and click on "My Courses" at the top of the page.

4. Practical Centre Selection:
