any clarification, feel free to discuss!!

disclaimer: these are not the "model" answers, just what we believe to be the best explanation we are able to give. we are human too and there could be mistakes as well :)

overall, very standard P3 which went according to plan. its a good day. we will continue to prepare for P1 which is the last impt hurdle. do not look down on this final 15%. I have talked about the importance of P1 and its tremendous ability to help u jump 1-2 grades if done properly.

similar to P3 it can be trained as well which means the effort u put in will definitely show results. will be releasing the P1 package to my students shortly.

simple organic synthesis. some students may struggle a bit w the final step which is an intramolecular freidal crafts. but those who are familiar w it will find it easy

MLC Chemistry Hacks (A level)

11 Nov, 11:45

testing of cell diagram, rmb to put ur standard conditions. students also needed to be able to draw the link between delta G and Eocell

MLC Chemistry Hacks (A level)

11 Nov, 11:44

mole concept. simple manipulation. the only thing students might struggle with at this pt is probably time management.

MLC Chemistry Hacks (A level)

11 Nov, 11:44

traditional physical property of transition elements. shdnt pose any issues

MLC Chemistry Hacks (A level)

11 Nov, 11:43

simple electrophilic subn mechanism. this is a freidal craft type of rxn. if students can recognise it, it shdnt pose much issues

MLC Chemistry Hacks (A level)

11 Nov, 11:42

simple dimerisation. rmb to discuss both the covalent and dative bonds. simple chem eqm qn as well

MLC Chemistry Hacks (A level)

11 Nov, 11:42

periodicity was also expected to come out. can possibly talk about the bond length increases down the group as well hence less effective orbital overlap. but jus decided to focus a bit more on the empty p orbital since the current discussion was regarding lewis acidity

MLC Chemistry Hacks (A level)

11 Nov, 11:39

expected atomic structure concepts to come out.quite standard qns

MLC Chemistry Hacks (A level)

11 Nov, 11:39

nothing much here. rmb to show wedge and dash to show 3D structure

MLC Chemistry Hacks (A level)

11 Nov, 11:38

simple mechanisms. i chose to remove the proton from the organic molecule instead of NH3 because i think NH3 is likely to be more basic / (less acidic) than the one i have chosen. probably both accepted.

standard VSEPR qn. need to briefly explain what is VSEPR because qn ask to use VSEPR theory. besides its 3 marks

MLC Chemistry Hacks (A level)

11 Nov, 11:36

simple energetics qns. common trick is for students to forget to manipulate the value of delta H or delta S to same magnitude

MLC Chemistry Hacks (A level)

11 Nov, 11:36

deductive. there shd be one other possible structure of F that will fit the data, which is the side chain on the next adjacent carbon below what i have drawn.

MLC Chemistry Hacks (A level)

11 Nov, 11:35

jus some simple manipulation of terms

MLC Chemistry Hacks (A level)

11 Nov, 11:35

enzyme kinetics.

MLC Chemistry Hacks (A level)

11 Nov, 11:34

we expected reaction kinetics to be tested in P3 as it was noticeably missing in P2. very standard boltzmann diagram

MLC Chemistry Hacks (A level)

11 Nov, 11:34

we also exposed our students to aldol reactions before. so even though it is a novel qn, they shd find it very familiar.

Simple EA mechanism.

Not much novel qns this yr in P3 which shd be a huge relief to students :)

Relatively easy acid base qn

MLC Chemistry Hacks (A level)

17 Nov, 08:21

No major tricks

MLC Chemistry Hacks (A level)

17 Nov, 08:20

Not much tricks here. Just apply their eqn

MLC Chemistry Hacks (A level)

17 Nov, 08:19

Rmb to write ur balanced eqn. We lazy here. But relatively easy E°cell manipulation to decide on feasibility.

MLC Chemistry Hacks (A level)

17 Nov, 08:18

Rmb to list down all the standard conditions

MLC Chemistry Hacks (A level)

17 Nov, 08:17

Simple manipulation as long as u are not careless. Hope we didn't make any mistakes here as we did it in a rush.

The ideal gas graph was harder to explain. We nv teach this concept in sch for quite long alr. Usually teach the btm deviation only for the attractive force and ignore the repulsive side. But it's ok if u don know. 2 marks only

MLC Chemistry Hacks (A level)

17 Nov, 08:15

Easy ksp qn. Less than 4 marks as expected.

MLC Chemistry Hacks (A level)

Just some TM rxns

MLC Chemistry Hacks (A level)

17 Nov, 08:13

Standard TM colour. All of our students shd get the full credit here pls

Likely to have some variation in ans for the FRS mechanism part.
