📌This is one of the best read i got in 2024

Whale Star: is a poignant manhwa set in Korea during the Japanese occupation, intertwining historical tragedy with the timeless tale of a mermaid.
Whale Star is an incredible story to dive into if you love historical dramas or well-written character driven dramas, but maybe don't jump in if you're looking for pure romance. It takes a backseat for most of the story, but when it does come in, it's some of the most romantic, painful scenes you'll ever read. I felt like a masochist reading this story but I couldn't put it down.

Every character contributes to establishing the historical context and further exploring the brutality and pain that comes from imperialism and racism.

Sukima-Shiki(スキマ式)

A series of romantic short stories drawn by Sahara Mizu and inspired by the music of the Japanese band Sukima Switch. Each chapter is inspired by a different song.

I found them all appealing, very different from one another, no clichés, interesting and varied characters. I love Yumeka Sumomo´s art, it is very clean and simple... and I like her women especially.

But the best thing about this manga is that it has a very "Japanese" feel to it. It reminds me of haikus, in a way. The stories are somehow like "imprints", the portray of a "state of mind", almost like a painting or a photograph, same as a haiku. And they have, as well as other works by Yumeka Sumomo, a great deal of melancholy, but a sweet and dearing melancholy.

Mononoke is about a man only known as the medicine seller, who wanders around from place to place looking for restless spirits and eliminates them. He needs the mononoke's truth, form and reason to unsheathe a sword used to eliminate the mononoke (Spirits). 'Ninagawa Yaeko' the Mangaka did a fantastic job with the attention to detail in the whole manga and the characters are diverse looking, the patterns on the clothes are detailed perfectly, the scenery was drawn meticulously and the facial expressions were excellent because they fit the personality of the characters and the expressions on their faces which were easy to read.

Yall should also watch the anime after reading it. The adaptation is done panel to panel and beautifully hand drawn frame to frame telling the story perfectly in 12 episodes.

My Score: 8/10
