Save the answer keys of all institutes releasing XAT answer keys to match it later with official response sheet by XAT to see which institutes are worth their salt. Only when the Tide recedes, you would know who was swimming naked πŸ˜‚

Suggestion: Instead of wasting time on matching your answers with the dozen 'answer keys', focus on CMAT and GDPIWAT prep.

Post-CAT Take-aways for CAT 24 & Suggestions for CAT 25

1. VARC section saw some twists with 4 RCs (comprising 16 Questions) & 8 VA Questions interspersed like Bhel puri instead of all 4RCs together.
2. RCs had almost all reasoning-based questions, justifying my claim on importance of Critical Reasoning, especially INFERENCE.
3. None of the students I spoke with complained of difficult vocabulary, re-iterating the very limited role of vocabulary in CAT VARC.
4. As was often stated in my classes and demonstrated in my VARC sectional tests- ALL possibilities exist, and thus we had no parajumbles this time.
5. There were atleast 2 doable RCs in each Slot. One should have started from RCs, as we used to in our sectional tests, and moved to VA part after 2 RCs.

Suggestions for CAT '24

1. Stop mourning over CAT '24. It is over and done. You cannot change it now.
2. Don't waste your time attending analysis sessions. Those sessions are relevant only for CAT '25 aspirants.
3. Don't get into the game of calculating/predicting your %ile on the bases of your assessment of your performance today. Your %ile is locked. You will get to know it in a couple of weeks. Only fools waste their time on widely inaccurate %ile predictors.
4. Take a day off. Relax. Prepare yourself mentally for the next battle, and trust me there are many left- XAT, SNAP, NMAT, CMAT, SRCC-GBO
5. Focus on the NEXT exam

Hi guys! All the best for your CAT exam tomorrow. It is going to be your day.

It is one of the exams and not 'the exam' of your life. So no stress to be taken. Stay calm and positive.

A few points to be taken care of.

1. Kindly carry a printout of the admit card and paste the same pic that you have uploaded in CAT form. However, signature has to be done in the presence of invigilator only.

2. An identity proof with a proper photo. (AADHAR, PAN Card etc.)

3. No electronic gadgets/metallic rings/earrings/bangles/chain/clutcher/bracelet/belts/watches/pens etc are allowed inside the centre. However you can take money with you.

4. Generally shoes will be put off outside the test hall, hence prefer floaters;can wear socks if you want to.

Why MBA/SoP Whenever you are asked a question such as 'Why MBA'...the following thought process applies Let's say you are at a station A. You need to get to station B. So if there is a metro that takes you from metro A to B then it is logical that you take that metro. Similarly, an MBA degree is supposed to take you from where you are in your career to where you want to be. But for that you must know where you want to go i.e. your goals and also where exactly you are. Once you know where you want to go, you must be able to demonstrate how an MBA degree is that right metro (means) that will take you to your station B. Think on these lines while answering the question why MBA. But know that MBA is only a means (metro) and not the end. Therefore, your answer cannot be that being an MBA was your aim and it is in pursuance of that aim that you want to pursue an MBA. You don't travel in metro just to travel in a metro, unless you are a worthless dumb-dog who loiters around, someone an MBA college is definitely not looking for. You travel in metro to get to somewhere.

Why us X(FMS)? In order to answer this, you need to know what the college believes itself to be good at for which some research isn needed. Every college believes that there are certain attributes/offerings (say x,y,z) that it has which sets it apart from other colleges. Now if you say that it is these attributes (x,y,z) that you need in the college you would join for MBA and you believe that their college has those attributes then it gives them the right impression....they get a fell that not only the candidate is a good fit for the college but has also done some research and knows why he wants to join us. Now to know what xyz are for a particular college, you need to consult either an existing student or alumnus of that college. A few of the things good about FMS are Distinguished faculty, especially for marketing...professor verma, professor pandit extremely high RoI excellent course curriculum Societies and events are completely managed by students

How US elects its President

Did you know that Hillary Clinton actually got 2 million votes more than Donal Trump in the 2016 elections she lost to Trump? That's possible because of US's unique electoral system involving electoral college!

To understand this better, take India's example. UP has 80 Lok Sabha seats. Now it is possible that a party X wins 10 seats, another party wins 20 and a third wins 50. Each of these 10, 20 & 50 seats will be added to the overall tally of the respective parties' seats from other states. However, in US, it works very differently. Let's say the total votes cast in UP are 1000 , out of which 550 voted for Democrats & 450 for Republicans. Now since Democrats have secured the popular vote (majority of votes) in UP, all 80 seats will be added to Democrat's tally of seats from other states and the republicans will get nothing despite having secured 45% votes!

2. Would it make any difference at all had you got the same admit card next day? The date and venue on your admit card wouldn't change anyway, whether you download it today or tomorrow.
3. What exactly would you achieve by finding other aspirants who have the same examination center as yours?
4. Do you think it is possible to predict the difficulty level of a slot? Because in 14 years of teaching and after scoring 99%ile multiple times in VARC, I have not been able to do so.

Think about how you managed your day today and ask yourself this final question- Do you really deserve to be studying management at an IIM?
