The First Year Cultural Team of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Sri Jayewardenepura, has secured the coveted First Place in the Western Province Open Music Category in the "Pratibha" Intercultural Center Talent Dance, Music (Vocal/Instrumental) Competition 2024. J'pura News by J'pura Voice extends its heartfelt congratulations to the winning team.
Deeply saddened by the passing of Professor Chandima Wijebandara, former Vice Chancellor of University of Sri Jayewardenepura. His immense contributions to Buddhist studies and academia in Sri Lanka and beyond will always be remembered. Rest in peace, sir.
The Tamil Students' Committee at the University of Sri Jayewardenepura is set to host Sangamam 2024, an annual celebration of Tamil culture, at 1:00 PM today at Bandaranayake Hall. This year’s festival theme highlights Sanga literature and the Five Landscapes, drawing deeply from ancient Tamil literary traditions.
Department of Accounting of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura is now inviting applications for its 17th intake of the Diploma in Computer Based Accounting.The Diploma program is a year-long course conducted in both English and Sinhala.The course fee is Rs. 130,000, which can be paid in two installments. Applications are to be submitted online.
Applications deadline is December 31, 2024.

This year’s theme shines a spotlight on Sanga literature and the Five Landscapes, drawing inspiration from ancient Tamil literary traditions. As part of the event, the Committee will launch their inaugural magazine, "Pahhuruli".
Leading academic, Professor Kapila Seneviratne, has been selected to head Sri Lanka's University Grants Commission (UGC). He has graduate from the University of Kelaniya, where he earned a specialized degree in Chemistry, Professor Seneviratne has held key administrative roles within the university, including Dean of Science and Postgraduate Studies.
