Dysmorphic Eosinophils

These images show the hypogranulation and vacuolization in eosinophils. Morphological changes in eosinophils are valuable diagnostic indicators for a range of diseases, including allergic conditions, parasitic infections, autoimmune diseases, and certain cancers. Hypogranulation mostly occurs in response to activation by allergens, parasitic infections, and during certain drug reactions. Cytoplasmic vacuolization can indicate severe infections or toxic reactions.

Plasma cell myeloma

Image ID: 64990

Description: This images shows the bone marrow aspiration smear of a patient diagnosed with multiple myeloma or so called plasma cell myeloma. Plasma cells and rouleaux formation can be seen. Plasma cells develop from activated B cells and vary in size from 14 to 20 micrometers. They are round to-ovoid cells containing abundant deep blue cytoplasm with a pale perinuclear area corresponding to the Golgi apparatus. They have a round, eccentrically placed nucleus with coarse chromatin arranged in a clock face (cart wheel) pattern. Rouleaux formation referred to linear aggregates of red blood cells.
