Keji,
It’s disappointing that we’re revisiting this again. You seem to enjoy flowery talk, but I cannot recall when I ever avoided meaningful or collaborative discussions. In fact, it’s you who has invited me to various restaurants on the island to discuss partnerships, yet you consistently fail to follow through with anything concrete. The last meeting at Pitstop, off Ajose, is a clear example I even resent our layout and survey plan at your request, yet I’ve heard nothing from you to date.
If you’re serious about partnering, I will know. However, let me remind you that you are currently benefiting from estate facilities, including the back gate, parking setbacks, and alternative access roads that are not part of your property. These amenities are an extension of the cooperative spirit of the estate, but they could have easily been restricted to the main entrance, given this is a gated estate, not just a roadside property.
I’ve made concessions for the sake of cooperation, but this recent signpost issue feels like an unnecessary ploy to create leverage. The estate’s security is a communal benefit that has favored your property significantly as the primary operational entity here. Would you prefer that we block the main gate and shift all access through the back gate? This was, in fact, a suggestion from the police, which I chose not to pursue out of consideration for you. However, if this attitude continues, residents who oppose the current arrangement will fully support that move as it pays them better. But I intentionally put a hold on that so you can enjoy that privilege at this your infancy state.
Keji, I have supported you through various challenges, including resolving the area boys' harassment years ago. I spent millions on police intervention, with your approval, to ensure their leader gave a written undertaking to stop harassing your team which they stopped. Yet, you neither reimbursed me nor showed gratitude only indifference. I handled those expenses because you asked for help, despite your absence at the time. Contrast this with how I’ve been battling the land grabbers on behalf of the estate alone, with little to no support from you, even though this is a collective responsibility.
Going forward, we intend to enforce stricter measures, including mandatory security levies. Non-contributing residents will lose access to the estate, as our leniency has been mistaken for weakness. Your property is very much part of this estate, and this nonchalant attitude is unacceptable.
Regarding partnerships or joint ventures, I’ve sent you our layout and survey plan multiple times, including at our last meeting. If you’re genuinely interested, submit a detailed proposal for consideration. This constant back-and-forth and indecision need to stop. The 2nd to the last time we met after extensive talk about a Partnership, you came back again to claim that your financial director proposed purchasing outright instead of partnering. Keji, you need to articulate your goals clearly to avoid confusion.
Finally, the signpost request stems directly from police advice. The senior officers who assisted us against the land grabbers recommended measures to reinforce our estate’s legitimacy and security. They’ve seen all the petitions and evidence supporting our ownership, and their advice is meant to strengthen our position, not to cause unnecessary conflict as land grappers are trying to use false claims to withdraw thise Mopol guys so the can freely over run the estate. So tell me is that what you prefer?
Let’s not waste more time debating over a simple signpost. Is there something else behind your resistance, or are you genuinely content with the troubles we’ve endured in this estate?
