SEBI Circular on Business Continuity for Interoperable Stock Exchanges
SEBI issued guidelines to strengthen business continuity and disaster recovery for Market Infrastructure Institutions (MIIs).
In case of trading outages, interoperability among clearing corporations allows participants to hedge or offset positions on alternative exchanges.
Measures include:
○Hedging open positions on correlated products across exchanges.
○Creating reserve contracts for exclusive scrips.
○Introducing correlated index derivatives where necessary.
Exchanges must notify SEBI and invoke plans within specified timelines.
NSE will act as an alternative trading venue for BSE and vice versa, with a joint SOP to be submitted to SEBI within 60 days.
Exchanges and clearing corporations must update infrastructure, notify members, and comply with the circular.
