🐻 What is a bear trap? It's a price movement that looks like the start of another bearish wave, but actually, it's the very beginning of an uptrend.

📉 Sellers get confused and think another plunge is incoming. All this happens while the price is skyrocketing above recent resistance levels, collecting liquidity on the way.

✅ When you see a bear trap, the best you can do is to Buy at the retest of the resistance levels that used to be a support. Look for confirmation on smaller timeframes or seek reversal candlestick patterns.

📍 Your Stop Loss should be below the support (fakeout), as shown in the figure. Take Profit levels can be forecasted via Fibonacci levels or you can place it near some distant resistance level.

The trend impulse (growth wave) has a 5-wave structure, consisting of 3 waves of growth📈 and two waves of decline📉.

1️⃣-2️⃣in the beginning, there is a solid upward movement (the first growth wave), after which the price decreases (the second wave). The second wave cannot go lower than the beginning of the first wave. Otherwise, it is not an impulse. Usually, the second wave is about 50% of the first wave.

3️⃣after the end of the second wave, the third wave of growth begins. And it is usually bigger than her. As you understand, it is possible to know that this is the third wave only when the price exceeds the point where the correction (the second wave) began. This is the most optimal time for buying.

4️⃣then goes the fourth corrective wave. It has the same properties as the second wave, i.e., it cannot go lower than the end of the first wave and is usually 50% of the third wave.

5️⃣then goes the fifth wave. This is the end of the bullish trend. The fifth wave usually goes beyond the end of the first wave.

US CPI and How to Trade in It?

CPI stands for Consumer Price Index. This ratio reflects inflation, and inflation touches everyone. If inflation rises, the US Fed will be ready to hike the key rate and leave it higher for longer.

📈If the rate is high, it will make loans more expensive. Companies start producing less, and people start consuming less. The economy starts stagnating. This is called a recession.

👀To count CPI, the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) checks out stores and conducts telephone interviews with about 26000 retail outlets and other businesses. Prices are collected on 80000 items.

⭐️ Before CPI numbers are published, you may see a preliminary forecast in the economic calendar. For example, tomorrow is the release of CPI for December.

✅CPI MoM is expected to be at 0.1%;
✅CPI YoY at 2.6%;
✅Core CPI MoM at 0.3%.

If the fact is higher than these numbers – the US dollar may start rising, and XAUUSD may start falling. Otherwise, the US dollar may fall, and gold prices will increase.
