Before 1957, the Indian rupee was divided into various units. Here are some important facts:
1. 1 Rupee = 16 Annas
2. 1 Anna = 4 Paise
3. 1 Paise = 3 Pies
In this system, 1 Rupee consisted of 64 Paise. This system was inherited from the British era, when the British Pound was used in India.
In 1957, the Indian government changed the currency system and introduced the new Paise, where:
1 Rupee = 100 New Paise
The Indian Rupee was now divided into 100 Paise. However, old notes still used the terms "Anna" and "Paise". To clarify, old notes carried the label "Naye Paise" (New Paise) to indicate that the value was according to the new currency system.
Therefore, in the 1960s, Indian magazines printed MRP (Maximum Retail Price) with "Naye Paise" to clearly indicate that the price was according to the new currency system.
१९५७ से पहले, भारतीय रुपये को विभिन्न इकाइयों में बांटा गया था। यहाँ कुछ महत्वपूर्ण तथ्य हैं:
१. रुपया = १६ आना
२. आना = ४ पाई
३. पैसे = ३ पाई
इस प्रणाली में, १ रुपया में ६४ पैसे होते थे। यह प्रणाली ब्रिटिश काल से चली आ रही थी, जब भारत में ब्रिटिश पाउंड का उपयोग होता था।
१९५७ में, भारत सरकार ने मुद्रा के मूल्य में परिवर्तन किया और नए पैसे की शुरुआत की, जिसमें:
१ रुपया = १०० नए पैसे
भारतीय रुपये को १०० पैसे में बांटा गया था, लेकिन पुराने नोटों पर "अना" और "पाई" का उपयोग होता था। इस परिवर्तन के बाद, पुराने नोटों पर "नए पैसे" का लेबल लगाया गया था ताकि लोगों को यह समझ में आए कि यह नए मुद्रा के मूल्य के अनुसार है।
