The Qur'an frequently highlights distractions that divert us from Allah’s path, and money is often the first mentioned. Wealth is something almost everyone desires, yet Allah reminds us in the Qur'an that all worldly possessions are fleeting and temporary:
وَإِن كُلُّ ذَٰلِكَ لَمَّا مَتَـٰعُ ٱلْحَيَوٰةِ ٱلدُّنْيَا ۚ وَٱلْـَٔاخِرَةُ عِندَ رَبِّكَ لِلْمُتَّقِينَ"
And the life of this world is nothing but fleeting enjoyment; but the Hereafter is better for those who are mindful of Allah."
(Surah Az-Zukhruf: 35)
As believers, our focus should not be the gold and riches of this world, but the eternal rewards of the Hereafter. Allah ﷻ promises those who strive for the Akhirah something far greater than the fleeting pleasures of dunya.
